Great location, very friendly reception, very good service. The room was simple, but very clean. The hotel has a splendid rose garden next to a small swimming pool. The breakfast was plentiful and we had excellent dinners at the hotel restaurant (very reasonable prices). The location is outstanding: right under a medieval castle, very close to St. John's basilica and the not-to-miss museum. Very helpful and very friendly staff.

We arrived tired and hungry after a long trip in a small bus to be greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. We were shown to our room along with apologies that it was not a twin (to be shifted the next day). On returning to the restaurant we asked for a light snack as it was late. The waiting staff were only too happy to grant our request along with many smiles and checking to see if we were enjoying our meal.

The next morning we were shifted to a gorgeous family room complete with dining table and chairs, lovely quaint decor and heaps of room to spread, a bed each and one to spare. The hotel Manager personally arranged this accomodation for us and had his staff move us. We were very happy at the Kalehan and sorry to leave the smiling and happy staff.

We found the outdoor areas wonderful to relax in. Places to sit or even lie down and just while away the last few moments of the day with a book and a drink.

The atmosphere in the hotel is very warm and welcoming and the decor suited to its age.

I am very late completeing this review because we have been travelling and then finally settling down in our home country after spending 3 1/2 years away.

Hotel Kalehan is a cosy little hotel in Selcuk just 10 minutes walk from St John's Cathedral and Artemis Temple. It has a nice courtyard and a small swimming pool. The rooms are basic and sparsely furnished. I had a twin room with 2 single beds. The bed was not the most comfortable but was OK for a 2 night stay. The hotel restaurant serves a different set dinner menu every evening.

Overall, Kalehan Hotel is OK for sightseeing trips to Ephesus and Pamukkale.

This is a great little family owned basic hotel. The hotel is old and is basic but if you are looking for a nice, clean place to rest your head in Turkey, this little place is great. Very close to the Ephesus Museum, Church of St John and walking distance (30 Mins or so) to Ephesus itself. Bear in mind it is a basic hotel, but the service is great, the staff go out of their way to make the stay enjoyable and have stayed in far worse than this one. Overall a good quality and honest 2 star hotel but the service and feel of the hotel is great. In the winter the fire is cooking and there are board games and other things to entertain yourselves in the lobby. The food is also very good, having eaten there one of the nights we stayed. Food in town is aimed at tourists so be wary of the touts that will promise the world and deliver less. Hotel staff are happy to advise good places to eat outside of their hotel. Breakfast is also a good touch. I would reccomend an early start or late afternoon start to see Ephesus to beat the crowds, if you walk, you can stop in about half way at the Temple of Artemis ruins. The short cab ride to Mary, Mother of Jesus house is worth it, Selcuk is a cool little town, out of season it is very quiet, I can only imagine what it would be like in high season. Stay at the Kalehan

This very simple hotel is a decent choice, given what we saw as alternatives, for a stay at Selcuk (Ephesus). The hotel is on a major thoroughfare and as a result is noisier than I would prefer. The staff is friendly and helpful (by Turkish standards). But the rooms are very basic as might be expected at a two star level property.

This hotel was quite nice to stay in for a short while but the rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade. The sheets they provide to use as a cover are quite rough (like table cloth) and the beds are quite worn looking. The showers was also in need of an upgrade as we spent longer in the shower than necessary due to the shower literally 'dripping' water down (due to lack of water pressure). Having said that though, it was a clean hotel and the restaurant offered really nice food. Would recommend it for a short stay only.
