We did not stay at this hotel but as a group of 30 people, we had lunch. The place seems to be a preferable spot for lunch as when we were there, there were 2 other groups, one from Far East and the other from US, they were not staying at the hotel either but were there for lunch only. I can easily say that the best meals we had during our 4 day stay at Ionia were here. We had a very rich set menu, starting with soup and salad, continuing with both cold and hot appetizers and meat as main course. The dessert and fruits were served as open buffet. Though the place was crowded and there were few waiters, the service was flawless. I can recommend this place for a decent lunch.

Dear our valued Guest,

Thank you very much for your reviews of our lunch service that you had recently. This was very nice for us to see a review of lunch instead of accommodation. Your experience also proves that the meals are distinctive for our cuisine. We are indeed very glad for this sharing. We hope to welcome you next time for accommodation as well.

Best regards,
Hakan Ozdemirci

I stayed at Hotel Kalehan for one night in May 2013. The hotel is located on the main thoroughfare in Selcuk, right next to a gas station. Sights such as St. John's Basilica, Isa Bey Mosque, and the Grand Fortress are 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. You can actually also walk to the Ephesus Museum (unfortunately closed during my visit). In addition to being located close to tourist sites, there are several museums and shops closer to the train station. Staff were very friendly and gave us some good information on the surrounding area. The hotel is made of two or three buildings - one houses reception and the dining area and the other two house rooms. We were lucky and stayed in the Ephesus room. It was very nice and well decorated; however, the location close to a major road meant there were some noise issues. Additionally, we could hear people banging around several times during the evening. I’m not quite sure if that was due to noisy guests or the wooden and stone floors.

Dear our valued Guest,

We would like you to have a better stay in our hotel but since the public surroundings and neighborhood are essential issues around us we can not prevent them. It seems the noise you had was from these mediums. We are glad you did not experience the wedding ceremony which is much noisier than any others. We thank you very much for your sharings here. Hope to welcome you at another time in our hotel.

Very good hotel. Just off the main road and the near main attractions in the area. Baby turtles hanging around the garden that sort of thing.... Room was fantastic and staff were very helpful. Recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool

We stayed at this characterful hotel for 3 nights. It is a sociable place, with people and small groups coming and going, and always someone to talk to about your shared ruins experiences!
The staff were very cheerful and courteous. Our room in the rear building (3 single beds) was spacious enough and very clean with perfect bedlinen. The gardens are restful and the pool offers a chilly but welcome dip. The beautiful rose bushes shelter several tortoises and their sweet babies! We were happy to eat HB in the hotel after long days in the ruins and were pleased with what we were offered.
I arranged our private tours through the hotel before our arrival and we were very pleased. Sadar, our Ephasus guide, is friendly and knowledgable and the driver (sorry I forget his name)did an excellent job taking us to Aphrodisias the next day.
One small question mark about hot water to the shower (its an old building) but plenty to the washbasin. Overall we were very happy and would certainly stay here again.

Our two nights here were a wonderful conclusion to our Med-Aegean week. Very hospitable staff in a lovely setting, with nice rooms and a beautiful courtyard complete with baby tortoises! We booked a tour to Ephesus through them that was excellent: very comprehensive and knowledgeable guide. The food in the restaurant (one dinner, two breakfasts) was quite good. The hotel is an easy walk back into the center of town, where we found several interesting restaurants. The owner was gracious enough to give us a ride to the train station as we left, which we much appreciated.

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Kalehan. Not only is it lovely place with nice rooms, beautiful courtyard and a quaint little restaurant, the staff at this hotel are some of the nicest people we met during our 10 day trip across Turkey. We booked a private tour of Ephesus with them and our tour guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area but truly passionate about the culture and traditions of Turkey. The staff took it upon themselves to ensure we experienced Turkish hospitality at its finest. The location is great, the hotel is good and the staff are exceptional people who will ensure you have a great stay. We highly recommend this place.

I stayed at Hotel Kalehan for one night in April 2013. I booked the room (single) directly through e-mail. The e-mail responses were very informative -- my queries were answered in detail. The directions to reach the hotel were clearly explained to me in the e-mail, including the information on the minibus service from the Izmir coach station. Though I did not need it, the hotel offered me to pick me up from the Selcuk coach station free-of-charge.

The room I was given was quite spacious; it was probably a double-room. Although the hotel is just off the main road and the room I was allocated is at the front, it was still peaceful and quiet. The wifi was available in the room and was provided free-of-charge. There was a buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausages, ham, cheese, vegetables, a selection of bread, tea, coffee and orange juice.

The hotel offered an option to go on a day trip to the ancient city of Ephesus at the cost of €54,00. I booked on this trip which also included the visits to the House of the Virgin Mary, Temple of Artemis, Basilica of St. John and Isa Bey Mosque; the lunch is included. The tour programme as well as the guide were both excellent; it was well worth the cost.

The next day, I booked another tour (not run by the hotel). Due to unforeseen circumstances, that tour company failed to pick me up. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in trying to sort out the situation and helping me sort out the impromptu itinerary of a visit to the town of Pamukkale.

All in all, the helpful and friendly staff were the highlight of this hotel.
