“Central location, good price, friendly staff”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

My family stayed here for 6 nights after 6 nights in a posh hotel in Istanbul. Obviously, you don't expect the same kind of accommodation in a town of 30,000 as one of 12 million, when the rooms were 40% of the price of my Istanbul apartment,

We had a 4 bed deluxe room in the front of the hotel. The noise of the mosque was lessened by double-glazing (and didn't wake us up, although frankly, if you find the 5 calls to prayer daily to be intrusive you probably shouldn't visit Turkey).

The room was fine, cleaned daily, air conditioned and had a big clean bathroom. The location was brilliant - a 5 minute walk to the bus station, from which it was 3 TL to Ephesus (5 mins) on the dolmus, and 15 mins to the beautiful Pamucak beach which has white sands and wasn't even crowded on the first day of Eid, and which has shallow water so is very safe for kids.

The owners were very helpful. I called to arrange a taxi from Izmir airport to Selcuk (about 45 mins) and was told that it would be 50 Euro, but not to bother as Onur Air had a free shuttle from the airport (this was hard to find, but they did so the 4 of us were brought to Selcuk for free). Ahmet's recommendation for Pamucak beach (Citak beach cafe) was very good - reasonably priced snacks and drinks, £5 day to use their beach umbrellas and sunbeds and, on leaving, the owner gave free tea and phoned the dolmus driver to pick us up. (We looked at the swimming pool which looked a bit folorn outside their old building, but never used it; why would you when the beauty of Pamucak beach is 10 mins away?)

Ahmet also recommended his barber who gave me a proper Turkish shave for less than other barbers had quoted me (5 TL).

The only trivial complaint I'd make is that the breakfast buffet (which was otherwise simple but filling and fresh) had the weakest coffee I've ever tasted. Put some more coffee grounds in there, Ahmet!

We'd stay again.

We stayed here in June with friends so that we could visit Ephesus. The hotel is in the centre of the town and our rooms had a view of the mosque where there were storks nesting on the dome. The rooms were clean and spacious. All the staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was served on the terrace at the front of the hotel, a normal buffet style Turkish one. Restaurants were within walking distance and there is road side parking. Would stay there again.

We loved this place- we stayed for 2 nights and it is smack bang in the middle of the little town of Selcuk. The rooms were big enough for 2 people with 2 bags and hand luggage to not feel cramped. The bathrooms were ok, just a tiny bit off smelling- things are in need of an upgrade. There was a pool nearby that we didn’t manage to get to since we had a pretty busy schedule. The breakfast was fairly standard-cereal, yoghurt, tea/coffee, fruit.

The best thing about this place was the owner- Alex, always ready to help with anything that we need- how to get here, where to get this, what to do, booking a tour. One time we didn’t have too much local currency (and the exchanges were shut for the day) and he immediately offered to lend us some.

I was surprised by the great location of this property. It is right in the center, across the mosque, between the bus stop and railway station, within walking distance to market and all public areas.
The room was very comfortable, nice design, large bathroom and the large balcony overlooking the market and mosque was a nice surprise. We could enjoy the sunset drinking a cup of tea from the balcony.
The guy who received us, his name was Alex, was all the time present there, was very friendly and helpful. He sent someone to pick us up from the bus stop, and recommended us a nice restaurant for dinner.
If you go to Selcuk I think Jimmy's place is the right option to stay.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms have larger bathrooms, although the standard rooms are nice too

This is not a 5 star hotel and does not pretend to be. What it is is a very central and short walk from Otogar location with a great vibe and friendly, informative management. The room was a good size and while not at all new as very clean with access to an outside balcony to dry washing from our journey. The breakfast was a good selection and standard Turkish breakfast in an nice atmosphere next to the passing parade of the town and visitors. A market opens once a week straight outside.I would stay again and it is certainly a good choice which is favourably priced.

Room Tip: The manager is very friendly and helpful but it is wise to have options open when considering a sugg...

The price reflects the room, it is what it is.
Jimmy was there the entire time we were, but didn't become friendly until we checked out where he then became a friendly, smiling host (FYI he would not let us pay on the credit card we used to book with from bookings.com, rather said cash only). We realized he became friendly because he wanted to show us his carpets that we for sale....
We never found the pool that was advertised.... However we were there for market day a nd stocked up on lovely fruits & vegetables.

If it hadn't been for Ephesus I would have checked out early. Advertises a pool, no pool on premises it;s a 2 min walk but it was closed. Advertises in house restaurant, Nope! Just serves a very poor Turkish breakfast. Had a lot of trouble with Internet, hot water,t.v didn't work nor the 4 Satellite stations and the staff were not very friendly when these issues were brought up. No toiletries of any kind ie., shampoo just a pump soap dispenser. At one point there was no one watching the front desk after dinner. Also there was a blackish "mold" on the bathroom ceiling, paint chips falling off.A lot of banging on pipes and doors slamming through out the night.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and have a better experience.
