Owner description: Several years after the death of Christ, St. John brought the Virgin Mother to this house located on the slopes of Bülbül Mountain. It is believed the Virgin Mary lived in this house until she died at the age of 64.

Still an operating church. Small but powerful. Worth visiting or either religious or cultural reasons.

This stop was part of another tour and was quite interesting. It is a small house, restored in the 1950s which is purported to be the location to which John the Apostle brought Mary, mother of Jesus. Legend has it she ended her days here and several Popes have used the site to celebrate Mass.
It is very lovely, set amongst trees and hills, provided with a natural spring which has never stopped flowing. Small clay bottles are available for purchase which are used to bottle your own water from the spring.
Candles are also available for a donation and you can light one and leave it in memory of loved ones who have passed on.
A charming spot for a stop.

My husband and I visited the house where the historians believe Mary lived while in Ephesus. It is more of a shrine and worship place. The grounds are beautiful and the prayer wall is a sight to see. People write their prayers on tissue and slip them onto the wall in the cracks. It’s a quick tour and visit, but worth it.

This site claims to be the home the Apostle John brought Mary the Mother of Christ after he was freed from the island of Patmos ( which is not too far away).
The site was small, and nicely set up, but I wasn't sure of it's authenticity as there are many sites in the ancient world that claim to be Mary's home and final resting place. So my skepticism may be getting it the way of appreciating it, but it does seem plausible.

well, yeah...this is the place where mary is purported to have lived out her final days...very simple structure, (which you would expect)..doubt that this is the original house...went w/group, so had very little wait time before we were able to go inside....since 2 popes have declared this site to be holy, it must be real....interesting to note is the wall just below the house where there are countless pieces of paper attached from individuals asking for mary's help...many from women seeking to be able to have a child.....to true believers, the place is sacred...to everyone else, its just a tourist site....you be the judge....
