Owner description: This fine example of Seljukian architecture was purposely built with an asymmetrical style along with several Ottoman style elements, which are revealed in the turquoise and blue faience mosaics.

“Worth seeing, but...”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

After visiting mosques in Spain and Morocco, I was a little disappointed. Still, there's no charge, and the courtyard is quite beautiful. Do be aware that the Imam may appear to show you around, and then you will feel compelled to buy something from his shop in support of the upkeep of the mosque.

“Small, ancient Mosque”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Isa Bey Mosque was built in1375, and is a small Mosque and the outside part is partially in ruins. The inside has been restored and interestingly had florescent light bulbs in all the candelabra :)
There were old tombstones in the courtyard and other pieces of ruined columns that were ornate and interesting to observe.
The Imam had a little shop outside the Mosque where he sold (surprise) souvenirs...but he did give us a free card with a picture of the Mosque and then wrote out name in Arabic also. He was a very happy, friendly guy even though only one person bought something from him and let us all take a picture with him and his framed picture of him from about 20 years ago...he was very proud of it!

Architecturally important mosque that makes a nice place for a brief stop. Calm, reflective, cool spot.

“Historic Small Mosque”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

8Oct12. Free entrance. We were there late afternoon and there were very few other visitors. Small mosque with a nice courtyard and garden. A lot of birds and plenty of birds droppings as a result. These don't seem to be cleaned that often. Nice decor in interior of the mosque. Drop a donation if you can to help with the upkeep.

“Well worth a visit”

Adjacent to the site of St John's basilica, this is worth a walk and there is a nice cafe shop outside for lunch.
