In this quaint little town, this is a perfect little hotel managed by a charming Jimmy (Chim) and helped by Ferhat.

Pros:
Very clean
Excellent service
Great breakfast
Very tasteful decorations at a budgeted price
And did I mention amazing service?

Cons:
There is no elevator, might be difficult for some, it was no issues for us, and Ferhat and Jimmy helped us with the luggage everywhere. Don't judge the book by its cover, they're very strong!
The bathroom albeit clean is a little squeezy, we solved the problem by tucking the shower curtains at the door handle and in the sink.

All in all, we highly recommend this little hotel. When you stay here you're not staying at a hotel but with a friend. :)

The urkmez team went out if their way to make our stay enjoyable,

We arrived at urkmez after a delayed flight from Kayseri and at 4am in the morning the manager was kind enough to wake and check us in.

There service was excellent. They kindly dropped us at the otogar too thanks again

We stayed three nights in Ephesus Suites in April 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is run by Cuneyt (pronounced ‘June-ate’, but called Ju-Ju for short) with assistance from his housekeeper/cook Serifnur and young assistant Okan.

We were picked up at Izmir airport by Cuneyt’s father Kamil who whisked us to Selcuk in a comfortable and newish Citreon, which had plenty of room for our luggage. The road to Selcuk was dual carriageway all the way, which was very different to the country road we had been expecting (OK, so Turkey doesn’t have Google Maps yet!)

On arrival we were greeted warmly by Cuneyt and Okan and given maps and a rundown on Selcuk’s attractions, landmarks and recommended eateries. Selcuk is actually a lovely town, and we would have been happy to stay much longer. It’s a town of about 23,00 people, and while the nearby archaeological sites obviously are important to the economy it doesn’t seem to rely solely on them for its existence, and the tree-lined streets are populated more by locals than tourists. Watching the old men playing marathon sessions of Okey in the pleasant pedestrianized town centre gives you a feel that you are getting a taste of the real Turkey.

Our ‘Dante Ares’ room on the ground floor (all four rooms are named after family members) was spacious, comprising a bedroom with plenty of storage space and a comfortable bed and sitting room nicely furnished with comfortable chairs and a lounge. There is a small fridge, tea making facilities for the all-important early morning cuppa and a TV, although we didn’t turn it on during our stay. There is heating/air-conditioning and a fan above the bed, but we didn’t need any of these during our stay. The bathroom was compact but the shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The room was also very quiet, and lacked the barking dogs that had plagued us in Goreme (Selcuk is more of a cat place).

The sleeping quarters are about 5 metres away from the building containing the breakfast area, which was a very pleasant place to sit. Breakfast offered a lot of choice, and Serifnur is happy to do pancakes, omelettes or scrambled eggs on request (she also has hidden skills in towel origami!). Tea and coffee is served in lovely fine china.

In between the buildings there is a very nice garden. We spent an afternoon recovering from colds sitting amid the beautiful flowers, and had a lovely time eating take-away Pide with a glass of rose one evening.

While the accommodation is very good it's the friendliness of the management and staff that set this place apart - things like helping out with our laundry, ensuring we had enough drinking water, and giving us a lift to the train station on our departure. While they can organise tours for you they never tried to hard sell them (in fact, we wouldn’t have know about them if we hadn’t read about them in the in-room information sheet).

Cuneyt is a genuinely nice guy, who couldn’t have been more helpful. He has professional qualifications in hotel management and has travelled widely. He speaks fluent English and German, as well as Turkish. He also has website and related IT skills, and the internet connection is therefore fast and reliable, unlike many other places we have stayed in Turkey.

The business is only a few years old but in that time it has risen to the number one place to stay in Selcuk. We were glad he opted for running the hotel rather than a professional football career!

When we left we got such a nice send off we felt a bit sad to be going - like we were leaving friends behind.

A lovely hotel with friendly and helpful mastes, whenever you need any helps or questions they always provide the soonest and useful feedback for you. The breakfast is very delicious and various everyday, I'd recommend my friends to come here for sure.

Notices:
1) water pressure is too weak to take one quick and nice shower.
2) the souvenir store "moon light" is with much higher price than other places like Goreme,Urgup, Avanos even Istanbul. Pls hold your wallet unless the stuff is really especial not available to get in other places.

We stayed at Ephesus Suites for a total of 3 nights. It is a family run hotel with only 4 rooms.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming despite the language barrier. Despite being a small town, the staff were extremely professional.

We travelled as a group of four females, but the hotel manager Juju made us feel very safe and welcomed. He provided us great tips on where to go in and around Selcuk and how to get there. He did not push any tours on us and helped us arrange tours when required.

The housekeeper is extremely friendly and very sweet. She was very professional and despite not being able to communicate with her, we enjoyed her hospitality and warmth very much.

We would definitely stay here again should we return to Selcuk. It was a relaxing trip and Ephesus Suites definitely made it better.
