“Great staff, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2011

Friendly, very helpful staff. One of the staff found an open drugstore and volunteered to go there to get us some meds we needed. Large room for a budget hotel, but with a broken chandelier and not enough hot water. Excellent food, Nice roof top restaurant. Quiet location. Ten minutes from Ephessus.

Room Tip: Ask for the double room on the second floor in the back.

Lovely place, brothers Suleyman and Ibrahim very welcoming and helpful. First floor room a little noisy, otherwise no complaints. Great location near sites and easy walk to center of town. Very much recommend this hotel.

On reading some of the reveiws I wondered if I had stayed in the same hotel?  Boutique - I think NOT.  Staff were a mixture of freindly and down right rude and dismissive.  Our TV didn't work and we were told all kinds of lies about it - 'fixed tomorrow'; 'no English shows'; when we said we would watch Turkish TV they argued with us that we couldn't understand Turkish!  Safe wouldn't open and they didn't care or help.  Mold on bedroom and bathroom walls; basic furniture; very spartin room; noisy tiled floors in rooms and hallway.  Room noisy - scraping of chairs / tables on roof all night.  We were booked in by our agent for 3 nights but left after 2.  And I won't go into the breakfast!!  Just DON'T DO IT is my advice!!  Trish

Room Tip: All rooms suffer from noisy floors as they are tiled

We stayed here two nights, and our primary purpose was to visit Ephesus. We found the hotel clean, comfortable, cozy. I agree with others that the dinners on the rooftop are good (the wine is nice) and the hospitality is great. Our room was on the ground floor and was not noisy - it was very comfortable. The lobby is a comfy area in which to lounge. Wifi did work in my room 'most of the time,' certainly for as long as I had time for and for as much as I needed.

Room Tip: It's a nice place to stay for a night or two while seeing Ephesus. I have no complaints and foun...

We had 2 nights at Rebetika and it was perfect. It is a quiet little hotel in a nice corner of town, just across from the St. John Church, and walking distance to everything. The rooftop deck, where you have breakfast, also has an incredible menu for dinner. It is a very laid back family run place, and the 2 brothers run the place, and you get to know them and their families (one has an adorable son). You can sit out and watch the sun set, while having an incredibly prepared fresh fish meal and enjoying a glass of wine. It truly is as relaxing as it sounds ;)

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Family run. It's like living in a small village. On the "Artemis" side of Selcuk next door to the beautiful and tranquil mosque. Not luxurious but comfortable. A walk to town either round by the temple of Artemis or up the hill past the Basilica of John the evangelist. Food at the hotel is simple but satisfying--service is relaxed and extremely friendly. Nice people watching spot, (though there's not a lot of people). The rooftop living space is really nice. Don't expect too much, relax, slow down and your stay will be really rewarding.

Our travel agent insisted on this hotel. Matter of fact he charged us an extra 10Euro for the privilege. We saw the reviews on tripadvisor and agreed. Our own review is mixed.

Our hotel included airport transfers from Izmir. We were greeted at the airport by a friendly pleasant person who then brought us to Selcuk in what seemed his private car. When we reached the hotel, he showed us to our rooms and around the hotel. Then asked us what we'ed like to have for dinner and proceeded to cook our fish! Rebetika is basically a 20 room B&B owned and managed by two brothers.

The views from there were good and lot of the attractions were walking distance. (though not Efes) Rooms and bathrooms were really basic and sparse. A bit uncomfortable I thought. Though it had a TV and a cable box, neither worked. The complimentary internet in the room worked one night and not the other. (when informed about it the answer was, oh that doesn't always work). They did have a computer in the "lobby" where one could access the Net and a TV with international channels.

The complimentary breakfast was really really basic. Cereal, boiled egg, cheese, and some fruit. The fish from the first night was good. Initially we were charged 31 Euro for two but later on check-out we were told that they made a mistake and the meal was actually 55 Euro!

On the day we were to leave out transfer to the airport at 3. So we requested a late check-out. Not only we were told that isn't possible but told to vacate our rooms at 8 in the morning. It seems it was Sunday and the maid had to clean the rooms and leave early. Though we did still see her at 3 pm when we left!

Over all the brothers were friendly. But the experience was not. At the rates they charged it was not a good deal at all.

We will advice other travelers not to stay at Selcuk at all. But rather the nearby and more scenic Sirince Village. It's just 10 minutes more from Selcuk and the attractions of the town will be covered by the tours anyway!
