This is a quiet restaurant located under a bridge. Like other contributors have stated, they too reduced the menu prices to get our group's business, there were 6 of us.

Overall, not too bad, but nothing really worth mentioning. Wait staff were keen to serve us and we drank free tea after dinner. All up, just OK.

on the galata bridge with lovely views so get a table at the front. the previous reviews are correct in that you get beseighed at every restaurant to eat there. so be strong and choose the one you're comfortable with! they reduced the menu prices to get our custom and kept to it. they'll try to flog you every course so again be firm. our meal was perfectly acceptable (hence 3* review) and i had the biggest glass of beer i've ever had-lovely!!! once they realise you've had enough to eat/drink they're not shy to give the bill and move you on!!! in a strange way its an experience to try out but not to everyone's liking due to the hard sell and hawk eyes watching you all the time.

The come on guy promised us grilled fish with mashed potatoes and vegetables, live music, and complimentary coffee and dessert. He wanted us to be happy eating there and promised we didn't have to pay if we weren't.. On the menu the grilled fish was 18 lira, but we had to buy by the kilo at 80 lira for two. We thought we were getting shrimp salad at 18 lira but got shrimp at 18 and lettuce at 14. Potatoes didn't come with the dinner. After our plates were cleared away, we waited for the free coffee or maybe even the bill. What we got was the owner telling us we needed to move on because he needed the table for his "good customers." When we objected to that insult and the 130 lira bill, he said we were rude and didn't like him because he is Turkish. We never did get the music, coffee, or dessert. This has been our only bad experience in Istanbul. Unfortunately, being duped and insulted at this restaurant was an unpleasant experience, but we don't want to let this one bad time overshadow all the wonderfully friendly and charming people we've encountered here.

We crossed the Bridge one evening and were practically eaten alive by all the Restaurant owners promoting their place. Some of them were really agressive. The guy at New Galata seemed nice enough and we wondered if we should try it out, as we were in Istanbul for a number of nights. So we went back the next evening. Several of the guys worked us over on the choice of our meal. Their first priorities are always the fish you pay by weight (no price, pay by weight). Extremely dangerous, this is how you end up with the large bills. We went for the Sole which came at TL 35. The fish we got was really a tiny baby one and it was also grilled beyond normal. The chips were oily and lame. I ordered some more chips during the meal, as the fish itself was only 3 or 4 bites. The chips finally arrived when all the dishes had been cleared off the table. We rejected the dessert menu and paid, after a small argument about the chips that arrived after the meal. The dinner at New Galata confirmed our suspicions that the Restaurants below Galata Bridge are tourist rip offs. Although the view from the restaurant is really wonderful, we would not recommend eating there.

we loved the restaurant, and the wonderful view. the manager, ahmet, is wonderful. I have never had such a fabulous birthday dinner in my life. we have friends who will be in Istanbul this month, and we have already recommended the restaurant. turkish hospitality and relaxation is like no other in the world.
