Easy walking distance to the main square with tram connections and bazaar. The rooms are small, but clean. The shower leaked all over the floor. There were a small fridge and safe in the room. Some of the staff spoke English but they all tried. The breakfast was good but not great. We had to check out but were not scheduled to leave until later and the manager had no problem holding our luggage in the office. He was also helpful in arranging tours.

Room Tip: Some rooms open onto a small courtyard. These are quieter as there is no street noise.

We stayed at Grand Mark Hotel in May 2004 for 9 nights and our second stay was july 2012 during our trip to Adana We booked the Standart room, so it was normal room but quite comfortable and cosy with speedy Wi-Fi. Grand Mark Manager şerif and Lokman was very nice to us, helping with information about the nearest points of inerest and gave us discount for dinner at Kalamar restaurant and for airport transfer. By the way Kalamar restaurant, which is located near hotel, is very pleasant place with sea-view terrace and very friendly staff.

Interesting location, near or in the shoe district, uphill to main tourist attractions, perfect for traveler as easy out to airport. The hotel did everything I wanted with good quality. When I preferred to be over the street, they moved me immediately. Slept very well. Air conditioning worked well, TV too, as I watched old Istanbul films non-stop (Orhan Pamuk recommendation in his book Istanbul).

Turkey is a great experience. Good food everywhere! Stayed here ten days, more human oriented neighborhood than big hotels. Everybody has something to sell and woe is me if I thought it mattered. The rug dealers are bereft as the women no longer weave, they go to school and get jobs with benefits. Sound familiar. Everything is changing in this life.

Grand Mark not grand, but functions great as a budget hotel. The Ottoman Empire is well declined, and Istanbul is superb amazing fascinating, and this was an interesting location, really a working area in shoe shops and factories everywhere. If you have a shoe fetish, check out this area.

On the other hand, 8 blocks above is a main avenue, Ordu Cd, and street car line, all the way past Hagia Sophia, to the Spice Bazaar and ferry dock, and beyond to Beyoglu & Taksim Square, and points on the Bosphorous Strait, one of the most magnificent waterways. The hotel is in an area like the Italian North End of Boston, but huge comparably, with endless cheap eat options. From the hotel, one half block to an area of restaurants that are all outside and it really cooks up at night.

Also, a lower train stop is 3 blocks away that goes around Istanbul into the train station at the ferry dock. After climbing the hill a week, this became more desirable way in the heat of day to get to the ferries and a cool water breeze. While Istanbul is a tourist mecca, the ferries are a great way to escape massive crowds. See my videos, Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, ferries to the Asian side larely undiscovered, so I must return!

Room Tip: On the street is better than backside, up higher too.

Situated very near to Beyazit market (Beyazit Mosque, Grand Bazaar), and at 15 minutes walk to Hippodrome (where are St Sophia Museum, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace), this recent renovated hotel join all conditions to meet the expectations of the tourists. The staff is friendly and useful (a special appreciation for the manager), everything is very clean. The breakfast is variate and very good. At the end of the stay – the possibility to be transferred to airport with a shuttle at a cheap price (10 euros per person).

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

Stayed there for nine nights. What a great location: 5 minutes walk to the suburb train to reach all sites of the old city, though you can reach them by walking as well. 10 minutes walk to the tram for Galata and Kambatas. 10 minutes for the Great Bazar. 5 minutes for Hamam Kadirga (Liman Cad. 127). Right around a good beerhouse. The quarter Kumkapi offers shops without tourist stuff. The restaurants in 2 min. reach are not overwhelming, but go to the harbour across Kennedy Cad., and you find good fish restaurants like Havuzbasi in 5 min. distance.
The hotel is clean, the BF is what you expect in a 3-Star Turkish Hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was tiny and had not much place to stow things, leave them in your suitcase, and you're fine. TV (but who needs that when visiting Istanbul, a small fridge, a little cubic table. The walls are not really isolating from the neighbour's noises. Still, when you are asleep, the others are as well. Lights are a bit dim, especially where the "wardrobe" with safe is. Would I go therre again? Yes, certainly.
