A very charming hotel with a perfect location only a few minutes from the Blue Mosque. The street is very quiet and there are many wonderful restaurants nearby. The breakfast is nice on a terrace overlooking the sea + the Blue Mosque. Very nice staff. All in all a great stay.

We had a wonderful stay in this quaint, exeptionally clean and comfortable hotel and greeted with a very warm welcome indeed! They even played our song "welcome to the land downunder" for us as we enjoyed a nice cold beer in the lobby!

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel room suite with balcony and grand view of the Sea of Marmara. Ideal for relaxing and having tea, coffee,or a drink after touring the historic sites and shopping in Istanbul during the day.

The hotel,s complementary breakfast on the roof top was excellant pertaining to quality, varity, and service only surpasted by the view of the Sea of Marmara, Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque from our breakfast table.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the owners and staff were friendly and very helpful in assisting us with making transportation arrangments to other parts of Turkey that we wanted to visit.

We picked the hotel based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and we don't regret it, as it certainly contributed its part to the charm of our experience in Istanbul which is one of the most fascinating cities we ever visited!
We opted for the Dolmabahce Suite which is really giving one an Oriental taste of luxury, as attached photos should testify ( even the the trash bin is graciously wrapped in tulle).
As the other reviews warned, the room gives over a railway and the immediate backyard view from the balcony is far from enchanting, but if one raises the eyes to the horizon it is is greatly compensated by the beautiful view of the Maramara Sea, with a glimpse of the Asian coast and, on clear days , of the nearest Prnices islands.
The train did not disturb us at all as it stoped circulating at around midnight and probably in the morning when it started again, sleep was to deep to be disturbed ( we spent in total three nights there) .
Location is also absolutely unbeatable for this hotel, it's really walking minutes away
to Aya Sofia, the Blue Mosque ,and most Sultanahmet attractions.
As other reviews mentioned the staff is one of the friendliest and most eager to help we ever met in a hotel!
However there are a few areas for improvement which if overcome would make this place absolutely perfect.
- Cleanliness is acceptable, but not spotless! It was great to be able to get to our room immediately upon arrival ( before 12 am) however it was a less pleasant surprise to find in a drawer stuff left over by previous room occupants . Blinds were badly needing a clean and the white furniture a vigorous wiping.
- The quality of the sleep would be excellent if it wasn't for the pillows that are stone rigid cylinders and the thick, rigid cloth with a very unpleasant touch that's provided as a cover sheet...
- If it wasn't for the beautiful view and the pleasant atmosphere on the rooftop terrace, breakfast would be a big disapointment . Coffee is an awful pale couloured liquid, no fresh fruit except (literally) the same ( excessively) ripe watermelon and a poor variety of cereals and cheeses/ charcuterie .

Despite this minor critics, we feel it was a good choice and do recommend this place to all who want to experience the taste of the old Istanbul!

Excellent pre-arrival communication. Great on-arrival reception. Sincere departure farewell. The vibe of this hotel is relaxed, genuine, honest and elcectic. The location was perfect for access to all parts of the old city on foot. We enjoyed the suite with a view overlooking the Sea of Mamara. Our room was spacious and elegant and good value for money. It would seem that the other rooms were small, but certainly well cared for, with delightfully creative/artistic detail throughout. Breakfast was traditional and served with a view from the rooftop. Erdal and Atilla made every effort to make us feel special and ensure our visit to Istanbul was memorable. We loved Istanbul - its colours, culture, warmth and hospitality. Sultanahmet at least felt very safe and wonderfully welcoming. We sensed a great respect of and for our mutual cultures.

Room Tip: Suite was well worth paying extra for.

I had read about this hotel in Rick Steve's Istanbul book and our experience there exceeded even his high praises of the hotel and its staff.
Two families, 7 people, traveled to Turkey in June and the Romantic Hotel was our first stop after flying in to Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. Our experience there set the bar high for the remainder of our trip. Erdal met us in the street as our van pulled up outside with an enthusiastic smile and humble spirit. He introduced us to Atilla, who also made sure our every wish, to their best ability, was satisfied.
Erdal communicated with me via email for several months prior to our departure. He offered great suggestions as to what to do while we were in Istanbul and made reservations for us to have a Turkish speaking guide for a day.
Breakfast was on the roof of the hotel overlooking the Bosphorus Sea. It was a traditional Turkish breakfast with tomatoes, cucumber, yogurt, figs, hard boiled eggs and cereal, Turkish tea and biscuits.
Every restaurant that either Erdal or Atilla recommended was fabulous. Erdal even walked with us to one fish restaurant to make sure we got a good table.
The rooms and bathrooms are small but the prices are great and, really, who stays in their room when visiting Istanbul? They were decorated very well with more of a feminine flair. We understood from Erdal that 2 women, one of whom is an artist, own the hotel. Her art is tastefully throughout the hotel.
We stayed here our first 3 nights in Turkey and then one night at the end of our 2 week vacation. I heartily recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in the old town Istanbul. We were just a block or so away from Blue Mosque, Haggai Sophia, Grand Bazaar and Spice Market. When we left, we felt as if we had been staying with a family member in another country.
