This is a casual simple restaurant with good food, like many other in Istanbul. A few dishes are a little bit different so they may worth a try. For example the pistachio kebap!

The views from the third floor terrace of this place are amazing. It's fun to watch the hustle and bustle on the square and to observe the docking and departing ferries. All the food we had was delicious (Turkish pizza, different kebabs and salads) but the portions are quite small. The price/quantity ratio was a bit off. Service, although professional, was underwhelming. No smiles, no attention to our young daughter unlike in all other places we visited. Knowledge of English was decent. The waiters seemed to be in a hurry all the time and our requests seemed to bother them. Nevertheless, we greatly enjoyed lunch in this place.

After reading positive reviews in several guidebooks, we were disappointed by our meal at the Hamdi. It is an "old school" kind of place, with a well dressed man/host greeting us in the lobby and directing us upstairs (by elevator). White tablecloths and attentive service (too attentive!) along with great views over the water, but small portions of mezes (hummus, stuffed vegetables in olive oil) and a dry chicken shish kebab with strange tomato flavored rice. My husband liked his lamb shish kebab but as I have been on a chicken kebab tour of Turkey for the past 10 days, I have had much better chicken than what I got at the Hamdi. One of our biggest gripes, however, was the overly quick service...we felt extremely rushed to eat and get out.
There are better places in Istanbul!

nie location, after morning bosphoros cruise and visit to spice market (if don't eat too much there) - they have plenty to choose from on their menu - bustling place.

My expectations were low when I climbed up to our 3rd floor dining room. Decorations and lighting and officious service suggested a tourist trap. What a shock to find that the food was excellent! Lamb kebabs, Turkish pizza, a lovely Turkish white wine and out of this world baklava. Further, even though the place was packed, we were not rushed out to make room for the next group. As an aside, we also seemed to be the only Americans--bonus! Reservations are key though. We literally got the last table and we were there early at 6. As advertised, the views are great. I will go back.
