“Rimi restores faith”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012 via mobile

After 4 weeks of traveling around Turkey, and becoming bored by the sameness of the food, Rimi has restored my faith in Turkish cuisine and red wine

“Great service at RUMI ST CAFE - Thank you Ibrahim and Mehmet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2012

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Istanbul. Stayed in the vibrant area of Sultanahmet. The street . Akbiyik Cad, is where it all happens. Lined with hotels, restaurants and coffee shops. A must for any traveller to Istanbul. Spent a lot of time dining and one such place was RUMI ST CAFE. The owner Ibrahim and his right hand man Mehmet were fantastic. The food, service and general atmosphere was absolutely amazing, so much so, we had breakfast and dinner there each day.Tried different foods every day and were never let down. Spent hours there as it felt like home and each day we were greeted as if we were family. After our meals, Ibrahim would join us for a dessert or turkish tea and a chat. Strongly recommend anyone visiting Sultanahmet to visit RUMI ST Cafe. Better still, book one of the hotels on . Akbiyik Cad. There are quite a few. It is within 400 meters from Topkapi Palace and AYA SOFIA and 7 minutes walk from the BLUE MOSQUE. Fantastic location for anyone.I will definately return and will most certainly head back to RUMI ST Cafe.

“Lovely interior and view - mediocre cuisine and service at top prices.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2010

Rumi is directly across from the small bazaar in Sultanahmet; it is the best appointed restaurant in the area. It looked like a good start for a tour of Istanbul, so we booked on Saturday 18 Septembe. The menu speaks of Ottoman dishes served on period bowls and plates. If fact, the fare is standard Turkish cooking - nothing wrong with that - and the plates are flea market quality. Service is well meaning but pathetic. Wines are overpriced and poorly selected. The lower dining rooms are elegant and not used. No credit cards and poor exchange rate for dollars and euros. In short this is a tourist trap. Beware, unless you must have that view of the Blue Mosque at night and don't care.
