on one hand food was served very quickly(I would say surprisingly quickly), a lof of staff, respondive, interior- here a question of your taste, for me too oldfashioned, like at old lady collecting plenty of things from her past- too much of gadgets.On second hand- food was good, but lower my high expectations.First time I was in Beyti in 2008 and for many years it was one of the highest rate of excellent food.So I was so eager to be back and taste it again.And I missed this taste.And I do not be back to this place.
Also I didn't feel fine- far to old stylish and bourgois for me.
Notice: restaurant is very far from the "city", by taxi took us 50 minutes and 50 TLT.Probably better to reach airport and then take a taxi.Prices- double then in restaurant in the city.Starter on the house the poorest we had in istambul-4 marinated cucumbers

Again I must start with a caveat – or 2
Firstly members of my travel party know the owner since it was still a modest place in the 60s
Secondly I am always sceptical when “institutions” run for generations and remain top rated all along because often this stops innovation and going with the “times”
Now the review – the venue – whilst nowhere central- and worth to know it can be as far as 1 hr drive away from Taksim or the historical centre – is to speak with Michelin “worth a detour”- a massive place exquisitely decorated and furnished with a service shaming five star hotels. After being greeted by the owner at the entrance you are walked past a most impressive gallery of thank you notes from past and present dictators, oil magnats, film stars, admirals with little presents and seated on most comfortable tables- the crockery and linen is all branded and looks really great – no corner cutting here… and despite the restaurant is really big – they can cater for up to 2000 and turnover more than 500 an average day – you never feel it because of the many different rooms, courtyards, corridors
The waiting staff treats you with a grandezza that you feel like a head of state and you know they have served those a well- and this in the tradition of several great empires – superb but slightly nostalgic or old fashioned depending on your perspective– all in all an experience you can otherwise only have in Vienna or some French establishments
What about the food? We had a selection of starters and meat dishes prepared in the way of a tasting menu – which I am not sure if this available to everyone- mainly based around there main speciality – MEAT- vegetarians beware – whilst I am sure a place of this level will cater for you – and not badly either – you would be missing the point entirely.
What you will experience is tremendous focus on product quality of a level which is at least up with one Michelin star restaurants – but applied to all in all a traditional, in essence rural cosine – yet with some refinements of classical cooking
There was one of the best greek/turkish style Aubergine salads ever (10/10), pickles to go with the grilled meet (9/10), Turkish grilled country sausage (8/10), doner kebab (10/10)- don’t compare this with your usual take away – he sources the meat personally it is cured to their own recepy, matured with spices (think Heston’s in search of perfection); beyti kebap (lamb wrapped in mince and spices) (7/10), kofte (6/10) and the best shish kebap (think lamb skewers) ever (11/10 if I could). It was all served in Istanbul tradition with boiled rice, potato mash, and salad and whilst they where all very good the mash and rice were just a bit to conservative for my taste- the salad again a stunning example of product quality- every green looked like painted, the tomatoes and peppers where peeled and tasted like only veg in the Mediterranean can (10/10) for product quality (4/10 for dressing as classic). Needless to say that in a restaurant like this you can have anything to drink available on the planet – we started with raki as is tradition but not for me and swapped to wine- here we went for Turkish as we were keen to try which was nice enough and affordable but not great (red blend selected for beyti – 4/10)
Dessert was served outside in the beautiful palatial gardens – we had a mix to share outstanding were quince delight (10/10), kaimaki ice cream, kasantepi (10/10), ecmek and excellent fruit- coffees and liquors to follow. A tour through the kitchen seeing the amount of labour and organisational skill going into this exceptional restaurant closed a remarkable evening
So how to sum up this long review – technical it is venue (10/10), service (09/10), presentation (8/10), product quality (10/10), creativity (03/10), cooking (9/10), selection (if you not vegetarian 7/10)- in one sentence if your Turkish mother had trained cooking with Gordon Ramsey and Alain Ducasse and would always serve you the best food on the good china and you are lucky enough to grow up in a mansion – then this is home cooking for you…..
Is it worth it – if you want to experience classical Turkish food cooked to perfection - yes

There are few cosmopolitan Istanbul residents who did not take their foreign friends / business associates to Beyti in order to impress them, and/or treat them to delicious kebabs and traditional Turkish dishes.

So the logical conclusion is: so many people with good taste cannot be wrong. As cliché as it may sound, this is totally the case with Beyti. Certainly Beyti is even more expensive than other upscale İstanbul kebab restaurants (such as Kaşıbeyaz or Köşebaşı), but is certainly tastier, and classier as well. If you are a kebab fun who ends up at a Kebab restaurant every week, I would not recommend Beyti for frequent or regular visits, but it should be tried at least once!

This is a traditional Turkish meat restaurant although they do serve a lot of different Turkish dishes as well.
The quality never went down which is amazing for Turkey where the food quality in most restaurants are never consistent.
The only negative thing about this place is that it is too far away from the city,it is closer to the airport than Istanbul so it is not within an easy reach.
You will never regret driving all the way to this restaurant once you start tasting their dishes.
By all means if you have the chance visit this place.
I hope that they open a branch in the city as well sometime soon.

If you get the chance to visit this restaurant don't turn down a delight. I had a business lunch here several years ago and have never forgotten the experience of the best Turkey has to offer, they specialise in meats and you wont be disappointed
