This was our "treat" meal during a week long stay in Istanbul.

The view from the terrace was excellent and some may say worth the price of a meal alone. However, be warned that if there is a cruise liner in attendance you'll be able to see nothing except the side of a white beast! We were lucky as throughout the rest of the week there was usually at least one cruise liner in attendance.

We had three courses and wine (which we know is expensive) but the food was not worth the price. The total bill came to 360TL.

For starter we had an Asparagus Caprese (one piece of asparagus, an entire ball of mozzarella and a huge beef tomato), which was hard work, and an Halloumi Salad which was marginally better (too many beansprouts).

We ordered Risotto De Mare and a house burger for mains. Unfortunately the risotto arrived as ravioli and had to be returned, which meant the burger was finished before the risotto arrived. Meat in the burger had a strange smokey taste but otherwise was good.

Desserts were two chocolate mousses, which were probably the best course (although the base was vaguely reminiscent of soggy cat biscuits). Wine was delicious as was the bread.

Staff were efficient and friendly, except for the wrong order!

Came on sunny day, and sat near the water. Good service.

Highlights calamari salad, and the almond souffle.

Wine expensive as always in Istanbul.

Would definitely back.

Restaurant: My husband and I ate lunch here while on vacation in Turkey. The view was fantastic, if a little hot, in the outdoor seating. As others have said, the service was attentive, but not too in your face. It was a bit different from the typical "modern Turkish" food available elsewhere in the City -- a change that was welcome for me. It was so good that we planned to return for dinner but didn't have the chance. Yes, it's more expensive than other places in the city, but I think it's worth it.

Museum: this is a small, young museum still finding its footing. It's worth looking around, especially if you don't expect MOMA (in NYC). The staff of the museum (people at the desk, person at the cloakroom) were kind of rude, in my experience. Staff at the restaurant are much friendlier.

Should be on every Istanbul travellers itinerary. Lovely terrace right on the Bosphorus. Turkish Italian cuisine, very good quality, very attentive service, but not cheap (why should it be?).

A friend asked us to meet him at the restaurant in the Istanbul Modern for dinner, and we our expectations were greatly exceeded. We spent a lovely hour waiting for him, having a drink, and watching the boat traffic on the Golden Horn. The view of Topkapi and the Aya Sophia across the water is fabulous. The waiters did not rush us at all, and then the dinner was excellent. I had black pasta with seafood, my husband had a lamb dish, and we shared a salad. It was all delicious! It was an unlikely place for a really nice evening meal. One thing to note is that the museum closes at 6 pm but the restaurant stays open after that. You do not have to be there before the museum closes to get in.
