In March we made our first trip to Turkey and the Apricot was our first hotel. From the start, the staff were helpful. The Apricot is a small hotel conveniently located in the Sultanahmet. The staff are very helpful and especially so when one of us left an expensive piece of equipment and emailed to ask about it. Hakan and the staff rapidly found it and reassured us by email. We came by as arranged to pick it up. The process was seamless.

The hotel staff offer a good breakfast. The rooms are comfortable with good heat including the large, well-equipped bathrooms. Everything worked well. The rooms could be noisy and we would be concerned about the noise during the busy season. But, we would return to this hotel.

The major attractions can be seen easily by foot. There are a good choice of restaurants in the area. We reserved another hotel in a different location for our return to Istanbul. In comparison, the Apricot Hotel is located in a very quiet corner of Sultanahmet.

Lovely little hotel in a great location. Not the place for those that want a sterile, international hotel. This is a six room B&B set in a quiet street of hotels. In the room the drawers and doors didn't quite fit perfectly, but the furniture had character, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the water was hot. Although near busy streets and the Blue Mosque, the room was surprisingly quiet. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby as well as all the big attractions. We stayed three nights and would stay there again on a future visit to Istanbul. Excellent value for the price

Finally we made it to the Apricot Hotel. We had heard so much about other travelers in the past. The Apricot Hotel is more like a cult, a certain atmosphere you become a part of. It reminded me of the lovely small hotels in Paris in the 80's. Wooden creaking floors, a normal bed, some furniture that has aged, narrow staircase, of course kelims in Istanbul... probably the only difference is the staff, so lovely, friendly and pleasing.
I would say Apricot is the ideal city hotel, you find yourself on the doorstep of the Blue Mosque, Arasta Bazaar, Aya Sophia and still on walking distance from the Underground cisterns and the Grand Bazaar.
Secondly, it is very quiet, I was really surprised how quiet it is. The only thing we heard was the call of prayer early in the morning, the best one you can hear from Turkey comes from the Blue mosque! Furthermore the Hotel breathes the right atmosphere, is very clean, has a good bed, good pillows... and lovely staff to come home to.

This little gem was a great find. In addition to being very reasonable, it is well situated, about two blocks from the Blue Mosque, and three from the Topkapi Palace. We were greeted by their friendly staff, which included Osgur and Oskar, and they were very helpful in suggesting restaurants which were good, but not tourist traps. They had maps available, and would help us lay out a scouting plan every morning.
The hotel was definitely a great value, and even though a little on the older side, was well equipped. The lack of a shower curtain seems to not be unusual in Europe for some reason.
You are within easy walking distance of the big Mosques, including the Sulimanye, the Grand Bazaar, and easy acces to the Tram-Metro.
We found out that the children begging on the streets are working people's strings, as we saw a little girl who was selling Kleenex packs, and 20 minutes later we saw her skipping and playing with her friends, with a different change of clothes, and having lost her sad, trembling demeanor completely. Apparently, these children are manipulated by adults which may or may not be their parents.
One last suggestion, take the ferry, same price that the tram, (3 jetones, about $1,50 US Dollars) across the Bosporous at sunset. You will get some wonderful pictures.

We only stayed one night at the Apricot hotel, but we loved it. The staff was very helpful and the room was clean and charming. The owner, Hakan, was great about being responsive to email and helped us arrange a taxi from the airport. When we arrived her got us a reservation at this small restaurant a short walk away from the Apricot. They served amazing fresh fish and we were thankful for the tip. The breakfast buffet was great with lots of offerings. The location was perfect-just a short walk from the Blue Mosque, and the water. The price was very reasonable.

We spent four nights in this hotel. It's in a very quite and peaceful neighborhood, near to the Arasta Bazar, we used to see Sultanahmet minarets from the room balcony. We stayed in the economy room, it was small but large enough for me and my girlfriend. The hotel is well heated and hot water is provided without any problem, the room was cleaned daily. The breakfast is good, in Turkish style. The staff is ready to help customers in any way, the owner, the maid and the reception guy, Özkan they were all very kind...they even gave us a present for New Year's Eve... we hope to come back soon

We stayed at this wonderful tiny hotel in mid November 2013. This was the beginning of the down-season for most of tourist-traveled Turkey and it seems the hotel was constantly busy up until we got there – so this was when they could actually address the repairs noted by others! Far from being a problem for us, we enjoyed watching the progress of the repairs and also hearing about the wonderful additional improvement plans. There were never any issues of noise or inconvenience. I am betting that any previous comments on how run-down the place seemed will be addressed by the plans we saw underway. We are eager to return and see the completed project!

For the excellent value we received, we were more than happy with our choice! At this time of year it was chilly outside and our room was quite comfortable and very quiet. The bed was also very comfortable and the marble bathroom quite roomy! We don’t travel with much luggage and there was plenty of room for our things.

All of the staff were extremely helpful and the Hakan is an amazing host. For instance, we had unexpected credit-card challenges with buying Atlas Jet airline tickets and Hakan put his travel-agent background to work on our behalf. His advise was always spot-on with regard to what to watch out for (both in warning & in tips about his beautiful city) and where to go and options for eating well off the beaten path. He is extremely knowledgeable and gracious. There was even a large collection of guidebooks at the hotel to browse (in multiple languages). Very handy!

If you are eager to engage with your visit to Turkey and learn something about it’s wonderful people and culture, do consider staying at this fun little hotel.
