Apricot Hotel
Ranked #461 of 1,173 Hotels in Istanbul
Reviewed November 8, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Apricot for 8 nights, late Oct. 2012. If you book a minimum of 3 nights the hotel will pick you up at the Airport at no charge. After an extremely long transatlantic flight that is a most welcome convenience.

I had made our reservation very early since I specifically wanted and requested room 2, since that room has a bathtub and a balcony. When we arrived I was told that room 2 was not available and we would have a different room for our 1st night and then we could move to room 2. An inconvenience but not a big deal.

The location is absolutely great, within walking distance of most sights and also the tram. Be aware that the early morning call to prayer from The Blue Mosque is very loud and will serve as your morning wake up call.

The staff is friendly and very helpful. On the days that we came back to the hotel in the afternoon for a brief rest before heading out again, we were always offered apple tea which was delightful and refreshing.

Breakfast buffet was good, especially the fresh rolls and orange juice. I am addicted to my morning coffee and the coffee was great.

On the negative side - The hotel appears a little worn. The stairway carpet was thread bare. The stairs are made of beautiful marble and the ugly worn carpet detracts from there beauty.

The bathtub plumbing leaked water on the bathroom floor to the extent that the floor was flooded. I reported it and staff later that day said it had been fixed. Not so. My solution was to stack several large bathtowells at the source of the leak, to avoid a constantly cold & wet bathroom floor.

We paid 79 Euro per night. Would I stay here again? Probably. The location and helpful staff outweigh the leaky bathroom.

Enjoyed our stay at Apricot hotel, which was in a perfect location, close to restaurants, shops, Arastar bazaar and places of sights. Excellent breakfast every morning. I would not hesitate staying here again.

We had a great stay at the Apricot Hotel. Room 3 was very small (as advertised), but it suited us fine since we spent most of our time out and about. The staff was extremely friendly, the shuttle service to the hotel went seamlessly, the breakfasts were always great, and the wi-fi was free. We'd certainly stay at this hotel again. It was very quiet and a great bargain, too.

This small hotel in central Istanbul, close to all the main attractions measured up to our expectations and the absolute bonus was Hakan the owner. The staff were also very good, especially Aisha?? the lady who looked after us at breakfast. A special mention of the bed in our room cannot go without mention as it was ever so comfortable. We found the hotel to be very good value for money
After spending four days at The Apricot Hotel we had the pleasure of Hakan as a guide for us and our two friends when we went to Bodrum. We asked for a typical Turkish adventure ( no glitz and glamour accommodation/not too many ruins) and his excellent planning made the five days an experience we will all treasure for ever. This man is so knowledgeable with all things Turkish and has a wonderful way of showing off his homeland. I know I can speak for the four of us by saying that we fully reccommend Hakan and his lovely little hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul.

This was our third stay there since 2007.The hotel is now on a different street than it was before on our prior visits but it is a very quiet street so that was plus
We stayed there at the beginning and end of our 4 weekTurkey holiday. First stay we were in room #2,second time in room #1 which was an upgrade that the owner had promised me if it was available
Both rooms were charming with wood floors , nice furnishings, and were impeccably clean. The bathrooms were very modern and large for a hotel of this type- loads of storage space
There were jetted tubs in both rooms and this is the only complaint I had about this hotel because they were very small and I am not a small person The shower head was part of the tub so you had to sit in the tub to take a shower. Water flow was OK, once I figured out how to divert all the water to the shower head
Room two was nicer as it had a separate couch and sitting area
Breakfast was good with fresh OJ (the only fresh OJ I had in all the hotels I stayed at on this trip, which was 8) fried eggs and the usual Turkish fare
But what set it apart was the customer service. I had an oops! moment and got my departure date wrong .Luckily I realized it the day before I was to check out as I was settling up the bill. Istanbul was packed and the hotel was fully booked but Hakan managed to find us a place to stay nearby for the same price. And when we arrived back at the hotel for our shuttle to the airport he provided us breakfast which the other hotel wasn’t able to do because it was on the early side
We had two transfers arranged and both times somebody was waiting for us
When I return again to Turkey in the future the Apricot Hotel will be my choice. Good value in a quiet part of Sultanahmet

Room Tip: I would pass go for a room with a shower-the jacuzzi is simply too small to be enjoyable unless you...

My stay started on a bad note, as the staff had promised to send a driver to the airport to meet me. No one showed up at the airport, and when I arrived by taxi to the hotel, the front desk staff just said, "Sorry, the organization to pick you up was having a problem". Anyway, the staff tried hard to make up for the mistake at the beginning by carrying luggage, helping with orientation to Istanbul, providing coffee, juice, and fruit while we were waiting for the room to be ready, and preparing a nice breakfast. The room was somewhat worn, and when I asked for a second pillow, it wasn't brought to us when we had returned in the evening. When I asked again, the hotel staff had to go to another hotel to borrow a pillow! Also, there was no top sheet for the bed. When I asked why, I was told that this is the way it was in the summer. However, I was given one- I had never experienced a hotel that didn't provide a top sheet.

The location is convenient to the Blue Mosque and other sites in Istanbul.
