Great place to eat seasonal cooked food. Menu is printed daily. Lots of local customers. Make sure you browse the dishes on the ground floor instead of ordering off the menu description.

If you want to enjoy a really tasty Kebap, go to Ciya. It had great food and you get to see the Asian area of the city.
We were 6 friends and we ordered very different styles of kebap and all of us were very happy.

First of all it worth making a pilgrimage to Ciya Sofrasi just to get you to cross the Bosphorus, the atmosphere in Kadikoy around Ciya is great, food market is full of life. Ciya is very humble and friendly despite its renown. Had the salad / meze dish, got a bit carried away, and then had a lovely lentil soup with fresh lemon, followed by lamb, and an aubergine dish. Its a wonderful place, bustling on Sat afternoon at lunch time. I ate so much I couldn't look at the lovely street food in Kadikoy for the rest of the afternoon.

Ciya was probably the best meal I had in the city- the food was delicious, based on local ingredients, well cooked, of considerable variety and in good quantity. We had soups, rice, stewed dishes. Don't forget to try the salad bar- you can put all that can fit in your plate and you have the opportunity to try new things. The atmosphere is unpretentious and friendly. The flavour is truly Anatolian- not a fake one. The restaurants is in the center of the busy Kadikoy market. Highly recommended!

I only wish my stomach were much larger, or that I could eat a week's worth of meals at Ciya! (And this comes from a vegetarian, visiting a restaurant where meat features quite prominently.) I visited with an international group of work colleagues; the restaurant had no problem handling 12 impromptu, non-Turkish-speaking guests. We ate so much of the wonderful meze that we barely ordered from the entree menu of specialty kebabs and vegetable/grain dishes. All the more reason to return. This is "peasant" cuisine, elevated, but still real.
