( What a wonderful stay we had at Gulhane Park Hotel / Istanbul. From the start the staff made us feel very welcome in Turkey. Nothing was too much troulbe for them. A special thanks to Veysel who went the extra mile to make us feel special. The hotel, well situated, was our quiet get away from the busy city life - a place where we could relax and our very comfortable room. We recommend Gulhane Park Hotel. We can assure you that you will enjoy your stay there. )

Very cute hotel with a wonderful view of the Blue Mosque and the Bosphorus from the rooftop balcony. The staff was very helpful and the room was beautiful. There is also a small patio area, which is a great spot for spending time catching up on email or reading the newspaper. The lounge by the reception area is also very nice and I was offered complimentary beverages while waiting because they were 10 minutes behind on my check-in. The location is fantastic if you are looking to see all the major attractions. Just a few minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace, and about 15-20 minute walk to the Grand Bazaar. It is especially nice to be that close to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia at night, as you can watch the sun set over the mosque and then enjoy the evening views of the buildings by the fountain between them.

I do not recommend attempting to get to this hotel by public transportation with your luggage. I was coming from another hotel and chose to take the suburban rail system and had quite a difficult time getting my luggage up the hill on the cobblestone streets. They do offer a very cheap shuttle to and from the airport though, so if you are coming directly from the airport this would not be a problem, as the shuttle drops you off and picks you up right at the front door to the hotel. The difficulty getting my luggage here is the only reason I give the Amiral Palace a 4 rating instead of 5.

Room Tip: Make sure to enjoy dinner or drinks from the rooftop at sunset.

Stayed here during Eid 2012 and found the location to be great. A lot of festivities happening around the Blue Mosque area and all within a short walking distance from the hotel. Breakfast was good and the rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful although on the last day they did make a mistake while holding our bags and accidently sent them along to the airport with someone else's transport. The only disapointing thing about this was we had to wait for the car to return from the airport with our bags which made us late to get to the airport and the staff offered no compenstation or help on this.

This was my last hotel on my trip through Turkey. It is in Sultanahmet which is the lovely old part of town near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The hotel is a five minute walk from those two sights and is just down the street from a nice little bazaar where you can find Jennifers Hamam where I bought some amazingly gorgeous Turkish towels. The staff at the hotel are attentive and always ready with a smile and a helpful hand. I was upgraded to a suite which was an unexpected surprise. The room was large with two balconies, a cozy bathroom,a safe ( love that) and other nice little amenities. The bed was very comfortable, so I was always asleep in seconds. The windows/doors must have been very well sealed as this hotel is on a busy corner and I couldn't hear a thing!! The breakfast was excellent with a large selection of options that would satisfy every travellers needs. There is a taxi stand just across the street so it was easy to get a cab back to the airport at 4 a.m. The top floor deck area has comfortable seating, large umbrellas and a glorious view of the sea. I would stay here again in a minute and I would highly recommend this as a hotel whether it be for one night or much longer. Absolutely Fabulous.

From the time we drove up to the hotel and the staff met us to help with the luggage we knew that we had found a jewel. And that we did !! We arrived from the ship we were cruising on early in the morning knowing that the check-in time was 1300 but thought we might be able to store our luggage and then go out to tour the city. Well, we were totally surprised when the desk person said "I can offer you a courtesy breakfast. We accepted and what a breakfast. The room was wonderful, clean and ready for us at 1300 when we returned. THEN! we found the Roof Top Terrace and what a find! We asked that our courtesy wine be served at the terrace. We could not believe the view. Then we asked to have a light dinner served again on the terrace and the meal was very good. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we retrieved a bottle of wine we had brought with us and the server went and got us a wine cooler - what service. We highly recommend this hotel. We are hoping to stay here again next year for serveral days.

Room Tip: We loved room 402 because it was just below the roof terrace. The view was great !!

The hotel is what it looks like on the website photos. The rooms are clean, nice, not very big. The breakfast is ok. The staff is helpful. The hotel has a great terrace, where you may have a drink overlooking the Marmara Sea and the Blue Mosque. It is close to everything: sightseeing, restaurants, and at the same time the street is quite calm. If you want to spend few days in Istanbul for sightseeing Amiral Palace is a very good choice.
