“Friendly, helpful and good rooms”
Reviewed April 20, 2012

A 3 night stay at this hotel close to taksim square has been comfortable and convenient. The staff I have encountered, but particularly Meltem on reception have been friendly and inviting. I recently stayed at another hotel called City Center in Istanbul which was truly awful but this hotel is a world away. It's quiet even though it is close to Taksim Square and the crowd-swelling Istikal Street. The rooms have comfortable beds, good air-conditioning and enough storage space.

General
Locattion: Perfect, only 1 min walk from Taksim (and Taksim metro stop), but away from the hustle & bustle of Istiklal street (it is on the other side of Taksim)
Breakfast: more than adequate-very large selection of things and very tasty! (some you don't even find in a 5* hotel, like honey comb!) Minus: no fresh orange juice and no other selection of coffee than filter

Room
Space: Adequate size (not too big, but in no case small)
Cleanliness: Evereything was shining! Sheets changed every day
Bed: extremely confortable with 4 pillows for double (there is a pillow menu)
Furniture: everything's new, not even a scratch or a dirty part on the wall! Very modern!
Amentities-services: Soap, shampoo, conditioner, body cream, sweing kit, cotton buds-all of good quality (because in some hotels you can tell they are of the cheapest choice), slippers, safe, free wi-fi (very strong signal and fast speed), large selection of tv channels (even a greek one!), free coffee, tea facilities and a small bottle of water renewed every day Minus: no bathrobe
Minibar: full of choices (even condoms!), almost reasonably priced for such a hotel (e.g. Beverages: 8TL)

The one and only bad experience was the restaurant! The staff does not speak English (they just know some words) so it is very difficult to communicate your order! I have ordered 2 hours earlier so that my food would be at my room when I came back! They did not understand and they delivered when I was away. When I came back I was waiting and called them to see what happened. They told me it was going to be at my room in 10 min. It took 40 min. and some complaints to the reception to bring a broken glass and the wrong dessert!! Unacceptable service for this hotel! At least, in the end they told me it was complimentary..

clean and very quiet mid size hotel in 1 minute walking distance to Taxim square. Close to Taxim 2 mls of shopping zone with all major label shops plus turkish delights. There are good restaurants in the area, but the nicer and cheaper ones are arround Taxim square and left and right of the shopping mile.

This hôtel is very well located, about 50 meters from Place Taksim in new Istanbul and 5 minutes walk from Metro, Funicular, tramway to old city and pedestrian street with its shops, restaurants.

Installation is very clean, rooms are up to best Eurpoean standards. Rooms are quiet and nicely equipped.

Restaurant offers nice foods well presented. Breakfest buffet is certainly one of the bests we had during the 23 days of traveling Turkey. Very good, indeed.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. They even kept a souvenir that we lost when we were there and they will send it to me in a few days. I am impressed!

Definitely the place to stay when you go to Istanbul.

Went to Istanbul during Easter 2012 and chose the hotel because of its location and the reviews on trip advisor. We were extremely satisfied with the overall hotel experience. The details are:

- Location - Taksim is an excellent location, close to all public transportation in Istanbul and also walking distance to many historical sites so staying in this area really allows you to explore the city by foot and also to use metro/bus/trams (Istanbul has an excellent infrastructure). It also felt less touristy because the locals also come to Taksim to shop, eat and enjoy the night life.

- Cleanliness/room: This hotel earns top marks for its cleanliness. There is always that first impression when walking into a room - here the smell was fresh and clean. Once inside of the room, all was modern. For example, I never hang my clothes or uses hotel drawers - this time the room felt so clean that I had no concern. Daily housekeeping service was very good and it showed. The toiletries are good and in the room you also get slippers and a nice selection of magazines in English - TimeOut Istanbul (very good to check out what's happening in the city) and another magazine with good restaurants.

- Service: The team at the reception and doorman was excellent - the whole team (Hacer, Emer? and the two gentlemen in the afternoon shifts thank YOU!). Always smiling and helping us with recommendations. They recommended 360 one night and we really like it - good place to go and have a pre-dinner drink or after dinner drink. The hotel recommended tours which we didn't use and this was something I would do differently. There are many long lines when going to see the Topkapi palace or the Blue Mosque and having a guide means you don't have to wait as well as you get the whole history. The prices quoted in the service recommended by the hotel was also more competitive than what you get when you go to the museums and try to get a guide there.

Transportation - we used the hotel service to and from the airport. It was included on the way to the hotel and we decided to use it on the way back. The cost was 70 TL - it was convenient and reliable. Having said there is a cheaper service using public transport that I understand goes every 30 minutes and cost around 15 TL per person. The hotel can give the details.

Breakfast/Eating at the hotel - we didn't have breakfast included and at 14 EUR for breakfast at the hotel, we decided to explore the local turkish cafes rather than eat at the hotel so can't rate the food. If you chose to eat out for breakfast I can highly recommend the "House Cafe" in Istakl (spelling?) street - around 10 minute walk from the hotel and has excellent breakfast selection.

All and all - a wonderful experience in a very good hotel! Would definitely recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room - so there is less noise

Stayed at Midtown for 3 days in Feb 2012. Pleasantly surprised to be given a clean room with a comfortable bed. There was a large screen TV, hot water pot with complimentary coffee/tea, mini fridge and safe in the room. The bathroom and shower was squeaky clean - no mildew, and well stocked with bathroom amenities and nice large towels. I had to study for a brief, and there was no noise from the outside. I slept very well, great centralized location near speciality shops and restaurants, and 3 min walk from the Istiklal street - the busy shopping district. I did not dine at the hotel but was given free cay (tea) at the hotel bar which also serves cafe latte. Staff was very courteous and spoke English. Recommends this hotel for adults.
