The surondings are very popular, some streets not far are "strange". But the hotel is very good.Great priced property in a very good location for the tourist areas of Istanbul.

there was few problems:
1. we reserved room with bathroom. Every-time and everywhere it means bathroom inside the room. we've got bathroom outside of our room
2. hotel has beautiful terrace on his roof, but its not used for breakfast (sure you can take a food on terrace by yourself)

and BTW - there is very easy to find out hotel in Istanbul directly on place, for a half price

I would like to warn all travellers that your stay at the Rose hotel in Istambul can be ok (this is if you are not too demanding concerning the quality of the rooms) only as long as everything goes fine - if not, do not count on understanding from the management!!! If you decide to complain about anything, be prepared to be treated in a rude way and accused of all possible wrong-doing by yourself AND your family AND your nation as a whole! The manager, screaming at us and hitting his fists at the table, pointed out to the fact that he DID NOT kill my mother and father, so what do we want from him??? Well, I could go on discribing this situation, but in fact my main point is that one should not be surprised if any form of reasonable dialogue with the management proves to be impossible ... and all this for 50 EUR per night for a double :)

  • Liked — the location close to the historical sites
  • Disliked — the management who did not care about the people - only about getting the money

We booked through laterooms.com for £22 double bed & breakfast. We were on the first floor. Corner room that had 1 double bed and 1 single. Plenty of room. Only the door to the shower/toilet was very narrow. but once inside fine. Plenty of hot water. Very clean. Staff we met were most helpful giving us tea on arrival and helping with luggage.
Short walk (up hill) to all the attractions.
Ideal if you just want a base and not 5 star service. Would stay again.

  • Liked — The friendly staff and how clean it was.
  • Disliked — Road noise

I had booked the Rose Hotel through the istanbul.rose-hotel.tobook.com website. When I arrived they had no record of my reservation and no rooms available. After an hour of waiting around they put me up in a room in a building in next block. My friend who had also reserved and was arriving the next day met with same problem! The room i received was clean but had no heating and it was freeezing. Had to walk back to Rose Hotel in morning for very poor breakfast and a very unfriendly service. Having said that, the gentleman on reception in afternoon had been very apologetic and friendly. Unfortunately though, I could not recommend this hotel when there are so many great ones in Istanbul at this price range. I have been to Istanbul 3 times.

I booked a double room with private bathroom for me and my wife 2 months in advance. The price was 35 euros per night for the room. At our arrival the administration appologized that there is a mistake with the reservation, so they have only a single bad room for us. They offered to put a second matress on the ground. The room was nice for a single bad, but too small for two beds - there was hardly any space for our luggage and we had to walk upon it if we wanted to go to the bath. The bath was tiny, cold and smelling /no ventilation/. The blankets were defenately washed in a washing machine but still dirty. The street in front is rather busy so don't expect quite sleep. At breakfast we could eat as much as we wanted but the food wasn't good. Exactly there, at breakfast, we met a Serbian couple who were treated the same way - after reserving a double bed room they received only excuses and an aweful single-bad room with a second matress. So it is a policy of the hotel - instead of gaining 20 euros from one person, they put two and get 35. Oh, I forgot, they made us a reduction of 10 euros on the price of 140 /for 4 nights/ so it is actually only 13 euros they gain from misleading you. It is close to the Blue mosque and if you are ok about sleeping in a claustrophobic, noisy and smelling room, that's your place. Otherwise try somewhere else.

  • Liked — the cosy atmosphere in the lobby
  • Disliked — cheating administration giving a single room with second matress instead what was booked

Arrived out of the blue, saw it advertised for 20 euro a night (and it was).

Stayed in room 303, double and a single bed in room. No lift. Hard climb.TV didn't have any stations to watch.Toilet was also wet room with sink. Very tiny. Views of 2 streets as it was a corner room. A 2 minute walk to beach with views of the blue mosque and Asian side of Istanbul. a 5 minute walk uphill to the Blue Mosque and a million shops and tram. If you get off the tram at Sultanahmet walk down the hill and you're there in literally 5 minutes. I was charged 14YTL by a taxi driver because i didn't know how close it was.The breakfast was from 8am till 11am and consisted of bread, tomatoes, olives, salami, jam, honey, marg/butter and fabulous coffee and tea.

Everyone was really friendly there, especially Azis. I was a female travelling alone, I was made welcome but not uncomfortably so. thoroughly enjoyed my 3 nights there.

  • Liked — The price and friendliness of staff
  • Disliked — The tiny bathroom and no TV
