A very good option for accommodation in Istanbul.
Good price, the rooms are clean and recently modernized.
Each room have kitchen, living and bedroom.
The apartments are closed to Grand Bazar, and many other attractions.

We were two families, with children, looking for apartments in the heart of Istanbul's old city. Knowing that we would be out all day, and eating out every evening, we wanted somewhere that was functional as opposed to luxurious. Sultanahmet Suites was perfect: what it does, it does well. The accommodation is basic, in terms of no frills, but clean (with a decent bathroom), comfortable (good beds), genuinely non-smoking throughout, and well managed.

There are several apartment houses, built in the traditional, Turkish wooden style, run from a central office. We were in the Diamond Suites. The neighbourhood it's set in is interesting in that it's quite poor, yet completely safe, but you are literally a two-minute walk from the Hippodrome and all of Sultanahmet's incredible sites. You could not better the location in that sense - it's outstanding. It's surprisingly quiet at night but is located next to a mosque so every morning we were blasted out of bed by the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer. Wax ear plugs recommended. Also there were only net curtains in our bedroom, which is a tiny quibble, but did make it quite hard to sleep.

The management is excellent - helpful, friendly and with good English. The first night we had no hot water and not only were they profusely apologetic but they sent a plumber the next day who fixed the problem (London plumbers take note). Cleaners came every day, replacing towels and tidying up, and the property is well maintained and secure.

Whoever is running Sultanahmet Suites knows what they're doing and has pitched it perfectly for their market. A real find and we'd definitely go back there. Highly recommended.

Sultanahmed Suites operate four houses with different quality rooms in Sultanahmet. We have stayed in the Emerald building very close to the hippodrome (blue mosque and Hagia Sophia). The room was modern, clean and well kept. Internet worked without any problems.
Worth mentioning is the nice neighbourhood with a nice park within 5 minutes walk. Around this park many kebab houses, supermarkets, bakeries, and cafes are located. We enjoyed our breakfast in the cafe that is at the western corner of the park. Other useful shops (laundry) and restaurants are also available and worth a visit. Although we really loved the authentic turkish neighbourhood it should be noted that the more lively part of Istanbul (Beyoglu) is approx. 1h away.

When we arrived in the hotel we are enchanted of the reception. They explain to you how to go to museums, restaurant, market, they give to you a plan of the quarter and the touristic quarter, and they give advice to you for going to best places of the quarter.

But I think that the best think of this hotel is their room, actually this is very confortable, there is all you need when you are in holiday. And moreover the hotel is very clean, everyday rooms are cleaned and sheets and towel are changed with no problem, if you have any problem, they look after you, for example the hair dryer of our room have broken down and they change this immediately.

And it's important to precise that the location is perfect because this is near museums and near the tramway and the prices of market and restaurant of the quarter are not very expensive in comparison with business very near to museums.

The location was great close to the attractions, public transoprtation, and small markets. If you like the apartment life as opposed to the hotel life, this is your choice. There is a bakery, grocer, butcher, and small markets within a block. Everything you need for cooking in your apartments and experimenting with the local spices that you can pick up from the Arasta Bazaar beside the Blue Mosque (ask for David).

Every morning started with a steep hill walk to the attractions but you get use to it after the second day. It's a great chance to experience the Turkish lifestyle.

Dennis, who works at the Suites, was very hospitable and can get you a great deal on any attraction. He was pleasure to meet and we enjoyed his company. I will be returning soon.

My 2 daughters and I traveled to Istanbul last June and stayed in a small suite for a few nights before traveling the rest of the country. We loved our stay and really liked the neighborhood. It is walking distance to all the major historic sites, yet it was a very quiet residential area. We got to know the people at the corner supermarket and there was a nice little park across the street. From our window we could see children playing in the narrow cobblestone streets, mosques and minarets, and other old and charming buildings. We enjoyed it here so much that we returned at the end of our trip, for 5 more nights, in late July. My husband joined us so they gave us a bigger suite in a different building and it was even lovelier than the first. Most of these suites have a small but fully equipped kitchen which we took advantage of. This place was perfect for our family of 4. Check in is at the main building and there they hand you the keys and show you to your suite. From there, unless you ask for help, you are on your own. If you like that independence, as we do,you will really enjoy staying here. I would definitely go back.
