“Great location and excellent service.”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Convenient location within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque and other attractions. Marmara Guesthouse is family run and we felt at home. Rooms were very clean and the roof top was great. The highlight for us was the friendly service provided by Elif and her family. Elif was always on hand to help with directions and suggestions of restaurants when asked. She helped us organize a short trip to Safronbolu helping us explore different options to best suit our time and budget. The family also has a travel agency but at no time was she pushy. Excellent service. Would definately stay there again.

my husband and 2 children age 4 and 8, shared a family room ,my mother had a single room, spacious and comfortable and clean.
Fantastic location, round the corner from Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque and main Sultanahmet Tram line and local bakery and restaurants.
Wonderful breakfast provided and complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate all day.
Beautiful view from the roof terrace and nice to have breakfast out there
Elif is very kind and helpful and informative at all times, she suggests trips to do and there a maps available. perfect for all business/couples/family friends and solo travels because of the amazing location and friendly family feel

The pick up from the airport was at a reasonable rate, although we did arrive early so were not able to check in to our room till after 11 am.

Room Tip: single rooms are very spacious, great showers!

The hotel and our room was very very clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable and towels changed daily. We were made very welcome and given excellent advice about the city. Breakfast were superb, especially when eaten on the rooftop patio with views of the Bosphorus and the Asian shore. We particularly liked the home made jams.
Well situated and only a very short distance from Haggia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Tokapi Palace. The spice market and the Grand Bazaar were only about 10 minute walk away, The airport transfer was particularly trouble free and inexpensive.
One word of caution the stairs were steep and probably not ideal for someone of limited mobility.
We would happily stay there again and have recommended it to friends

This welcoming, family-run pension was our introduction to Turkish hospitality on a two-week sister trip. The Marmara is on a quiet side street, minutes from Hagia Sofia and other highlights, neighborhood restaurants and public transport. Some of the smallish but nicely appointed rooms offer sea views. On a rooftop patio overlooking the Marmara Sea or in the cozy kitchen, guests enjoy a generous breakfast buffet, which includes an array of homemade jams and jellies. Soft drinks are available round the clock. Someone is on hand to help with your wish list, whether in Istanbul or farther afield. Connections to Internet and cellphone use were no issue. And airport pickup is easily arranged through the pension, making the arrival/departure process seamless. Though the Sultanahmet area abounds with guesthouses, the Marmara has garnered deservedly high praises for comfort, congeniality and cleanliness. Add to that list: prompt responsiveness to all inquiries and great value. Managed by charming, capable Elif Aytekin (whose English is flawless and whose lovely parents live on site), we highly recommend the Marmara as a home away from home. (We're well-traveled, adventuresome 64- and 72-year-olds; stayed at the Marmara for five days. We planned our own trip, relying heavily on Trip Advisor.)

Room Tip: Guests have wide choice of room type which influences cost. We stayed in two different ones (arrivi...

We had a very enjoyable stay at Marmara Guesthouse. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure we knew how to get to where we wanted to go and had some great recommendations on places to go and things to do. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I stayed at Marmara Guesthouse for 3 nights in mid April 2013. Good value for money. The room was VERY clean; the house was amazingly spotless. The family lives in the house (a separate area) which is my guess why the place is so well maintained. The location was great; the last time we stayed in Istanbul we were a long way from the sights so it was nice to be close. The rooftop view over the Bosphorus was amazing; great place to have a drink at night. They arranged to send a driver to pick us up at the airport; had to call to find him but we finally connected and transported to the Guesthouse. Other than the initial snafu, the staff (I'm guessing family here) were all helpful and hospitable.

A pleasant family run guest house, well located close to Topkapi and everything you need to see.
Hosts ever helpful, and all round hard to fault. Great value for money. Excellent rooftop location for breakfast overlooking the Bosphorous. Go there.
