If your taking a trip to Instanbul, looking for a modern, clean, "HIP" hotel, then this is the place to stay. Like every hotel whether 4 or 5 stars, they have their hiccups but these are excusable.

We have never slept in a more comfortable bed!

I recently stayed at the sofa hotel on business for 2 nights. Having never stayed in Istanbul before the hotel was in a great location with plenty around to do. The hotel was nice, modern, clean, my room was large and the shower fantastic. The only downside to the room was a tired and dirty looking floor, but I think this was marks rather than dirt, but it would make a huge difference to the room if it was nice. I was also backing onto the main road and this was noisy during the night. Breakfast was a good selection of food however the service to try and get a hot drink was very slow. Overall a plesant stay and I would go back.

We were so thrilled with our stay at The Sofa Hotel last month for our First Year Anniversary. We wanted to go to Istanbul to "see the sights" but we also wanted a relaxing weekend with time to recharge ourselves. First and foremost, the service was absolutely wonderful. The concierge staff really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted. I fell in love with the soaps and body salt in the room and asked the Concierge (Murat) where I could buy some. Murat called the owner of the shop (it's a husband and wife who hand-make the products) and arranged to have what I wanted delivered to the hotel at 8AM the following morning! In addition, we decided (very last minute) to charter a boat for a couple hours, to cruise the Bosphorus before our flight home. They arranged everything for us--the cab ride to the boat, the cruise, and the car service to the airport. They ran into some problems with one boat company, and I kid you not, 4 guys worked on a solution for us. And it was wonderful! We were just floored with this excellent service. We travel quite often and it's not common to come across such helpful Concierge staff. At one point we asked for a restaurant suggestion and requested that they not send us to a popular tourist location--and they assured us that it was their "policy" to not recommend tourist traps. :-)

Regarding the hotel itself, we had a terrace suite and it was great! Larger than what I expected with a great balcony (one night we chose to eat dinner out there, which was very pleasant). My husband loved the "pool/hamam" area...he went down there almost twice a day! It was a great treat to come to after we cruised around in the Bazaars all day...but overall, I didn't love it. However, I tend to dislike indoor pools in general. On one of our days we chose to purchase a day-pass to the property of a hotel on the Bosphorus, so I was able to get my outdoor pool fix with no problem. The bar/lounge/restaurant upstairs on the roof is a great place to get a drink and watch the sunset without having to leave the hotel. We were pretty wiped out after our day in the Bazaars and sightseeing, so it was nice to have a good option at “home base.”

The downside to the hotel is that it isn’t near the tourist locations or the Bazaars, mosques, etc… and it can be a bit of a pain to get to them, if you want to visit them every day of your trip. We didn’t want to focus our trip on just the Bazaars and that area of Istanbul, so it was ok for us…the hotel is located in a nice neighborhood with great restaurant and shopping options. It was a great spot to come home to after the noise and excitement of the city.

Room Tip: The Terrace Suites are beautiful with a wonderful balcony and definitely worth the upgrade. It appe...

it was a great hotel and a great stay, service, rooms are amazing the staff was very friendly and spoke english fluently. The location is really great a walking distance from a lot of attractions, saves a lot of transportation money. Even after leaving I forgot a document and the staff was very cooperative and found and sent it to me. Overall a wonderful hotel, worth every penny

I was there for a couple of nights and what I liked most was the high quality of small details. Overall the hotel is good, with very good quality price ratio, but what makes the difference are the details.
The blankets, the slippers, the bathroom, these little details were of outstanding quality, pointing out a serious customer care.
What a pity for the windows, a little bit too noisy because of the downtown location of the hotel.

We stayed 5 nights at the Sofa Hotel. The location is very nice at the Nisantasi district, although somewhat far from the touristic atractions. The room was spacious ("Tranquility suite") with a large bed and a fantastic shower, but the window to the "Japanese garden" is fraud as this is an internal garden with a view to nothing. And the shower box didnt work, leaving the bathroom flooded after each bath. And if you have a smartphone or a tablet and want to be connected, you gotta go to the tiny reception, because wifi doesnt work in the rooms (!).

Customer Service is a special chapter... As we arrived we had to call front desk twice to get our luggage sent to the room. The key cards never work properly and you have to go to the front desk to reprogram them. Waiters at the breakfast restaurant are indifferent and more concerned at chatting among them.

The Frankie restaurant, at the top of the hotel, has very good food & wine as well as a fantastic view.
