Our small group of six had 2 triple rooms, one for each famly and they couldn't have worked out better for us. We stayed there for six nights. As other reviewers have mentioned, the location was perfect. Walking distance to most of the major sights in the Old City. Close to 2 tram stations if you want to venture a little further. I don't recommend taxis in the Old City.
The triple room had a queen and a single bed with a small sitting area. Although the view from the room was somewhat marred by the refurbishing of the next building, we could still see the minarets and domes of the near by mosques and a sliver of the Sea of Marmara. Rooms were impecably clean and beds were comfortable. Rooms must be very well insulated too because we were not woken up by early morning call to the prayers from mosques.
Breakfast buffet was good too. They have the traditional Turkish breakas fares like cheeses, olives, tomatoes and cucumber as well as eggs, yogurt, several fruit preserves and cereals too. We sat on the 5th floor balcony with a beautiful view of the Sea of Marmara and gentle breezes. Waiters brought us coffee or tea or anything else you may request. Everyone on the staff was couteous and helpful.

The Sultanhan Hotel is located in the most perfect part of old Istanbul Center, near the Blue Mosque, the Palace, etc. There is a tram just around the corner from it, you can take to the Spice Market and Grand Bazaar too. The room, bed and hotel lobby were all wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included on the rooftop restaurant. The restaurants and shops near by are friendly and inviting. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would go back. Warning on the street: Be careful of people (usually men) walking up to you that make small talk and say they have a relative in the U.S. etc etc. They are really scam artists trying to get you to go to a particular shop to buy jewelry or rugs. For any items in Istanbul, make sure you bargain.

Room Tip: We stayed on the floor just below the top and it was quiet. Although our view was obstructed, it was...

Great location, literally 2 blocks from Grand B but on a very quiet street. staff - amazing service very nice, they can't do enough for you. Rooms are large, good quality linens, soaps etc. I loved this place and will stay here again, especially since I had a bad bad experience at another Istanbul hotel and really wouldn't want to take a chance. Spent a total of 6 days, it felt like home. Can't go wrong if you want a good deal for a great hotel.

Room Tip: High floor, balcony, corner! Front

Spent two nights here. Our first trip to Istanbul and as previous people had said on Trip Advisor its location is so good. In a quiet street but only a five minute walk to most of main attractions. Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern (don't miss this place it blew us away), Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace nearby too. There's a tram stop a few minutes walk to get you to other areas. The hotel reception were very helpful with our questions and suggested a restaurant nearby that was excellent. First night we ate at the roof top restaurant and had the set Turkish menu. It was superb and very good value. We were almost tempted to have it again but wanted to try a local place to eat. I bought a lovely Mulberry copy bag in leather at the Grand Bazaar. I paid approx £92 but I'm really pleased with it. We would love to go back to Istanbul and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I cant say enough about this hotel. Everything from the location (walking distance to Covered Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Cisterns, Ayasofya Mosque and Blue Mosque), rooms (roomy and clean and well decorated), staff (everyone was very friendly and helpful - Yasar at front desk, Ozgur with luggage and Seckim in the restaurant). The hotel is beautifully decorated and is close to everything. Breakfast is buffet style traditional Turkish plus more. There is at least 40 different items to choose from (olves, eggs, cereals, fruits, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheeses and more) and is excellent. The rooftop restaurant offers an great view of numerous Mosques and the ocean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for an outstanding hotel at a great location.

Room Tip: I think all rooms have a double bed and a single bed so the limit is 3 people per room

The Sultanhan hotel has a great location, attentive staff, and a fine breakfast buffet. The front desk made dinner reservations for us and we enjoyed cocktails in the lobby bar. The location is close to everything in the old town, near all the major sites and shopping. The hotel was exceptionally quiet at night. The only real drawback is the rooms are very small. We had a double and a triple for our group of five. I would advise against the triples here but doubles are fine for two. We had an early flight and left some belongings in our room upon checkout, came back a week later and they located them for us. Housekeeping had packed them in a bag with our room number and date of stay. We were amazed to recover them.
