“Great location and views!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is very nice in a great location. Enjoy a long breakfast on the terrace with one of the better views of Istanbul and the water! Rooms hold normal good Radisson standard. The only watch item is that the hotel also has an anex-type of building that is not facing the water but is a separate house (seperate from the main hotel) facing the street ... The rooms there are OK but not as nice as in the hotel itself and it's loud facing a busy street.

Modern and good rooms. Great location with a wonderful view of the Bridge and the Bosphorus. Nice bathrooms and shower and good internet connection. Beds are very comfy. The hotel is next to the old town section under the bridge so you get the feel of Istanbul's older city charm. The waterfront shops next door have all the charm you expect from so much history.

The breakfast staff may need some additional training, cleaning up my plates as I was not finished and continuously over reaching the table. And I saw it happen with other guests as well. Maybe Turkey doesn't have a Hotel school or the staff recruitment does not require previous hotel experience. The night bar tender reminded me of the same experience.
For a hotel of this caliber and price point, the guest will for sure have had better experiences around the world elsewhere.

Great potential for such a cute place and more to be had. Price wise breakfast is steep, but good.

Dear Guest.

First of all thank you very much for taking time and sharing your comments with us about your stay at Radisson Blu Hotel, Istanbul. As you have mentioned our Hotel has a unique location where you can touch future and past at the same time with an excellent Bosphorus view. Our rooms are planned to feel this view as much as possible. Although we receive similar; good comments about our rooms we will soon have a renovation period to increase this satisfaction to higher levels.

Your comments about breakfast service will help us a lot to improve: we will immediately update our weekly training program according to your expectations. Not only to achieve but also to exceed.

Once again thank you very much and I believe we will have the chance to serve you again in near future.

Best Regards

Typical modern Radisson situated steps from restaurants, shops and the Bosphorus River. The negatives outweigh the positives at this hotel. The lounge has an excellent view of the Bosphorus with pleasant bartenders and is the hotel's best feature but it's restaurant is average and the staff less pleasant. Far from most tourist attractions - expect a $10-20 cab ride (and 20-40 minutes depending on traffic) to reach most of Istanbul's sites. The area around the hotel is lively and great water access. Good cleaning crew, friendly receptionists, good security,

Rooms are comfy but nothing special, desk chair has no wheels, is heavy and you can hear other guests around your room struggling to slide it across the wood floor - it was amusing to know I wasn't the only one having trouble, but annoying late at night.

Here is my main gripe. I stayed for 7 days on a business trip. Because of my frequent business with this chain I am a "Gold" member which is supposed to come with all sorts of automatic perks at that level. Most Radissons comply with their program in a way to make you feel special - nice wine or food gift at check-in, automatically upgraded room, amenities, late checkout, etc. On check-in (after I asked) I was told to ask the next day about the obligatory room upgrade. They "upgraded" my room from a standard room bridge/Bosphorus view to a standard room, courtyard view above the loud employee smoking area/trash area. (FYI - trash pick up is at 0630) I was shown the room late at night and I couldn't tell it was a "downgrade," I trusted the staff who were telling me it was nicer view. My food and beverage gift was a bowl of nuts and old fruit that was definitely an afterthought, it wasn't even on room service plates but something that belonged in the staff canteen. Day three I asked if I could at least have a bathrobe to go with the slippers they kept leaving me. Asking for a late check-out was not well-received and grudgingly given. If you are counting on the Carlson Club perks and recognition, don't. And yes, I was polite and friendly so this wasn't staff retribution, just staff ignorance of their own programs and unfamiliarity with their product above the main lobby.

BEWARE of the minibar!! One half of a cabinet is marked MINI-BAR. The other half is a separate drawer that has all of your tea and coffee things tucked away (a mission to make a cup of tea) but also has mini-bar items interspersed with your coffee and tea which could lead to costly mistakes since they appear complimentary. Used cups and saucers will be taken away daily but only replaced every few days, I guess they want you to go to the bar for your coffee.

Pretty hotel, average Radisson rooms (at least at standard level), nice Bosphorus views, away from the bustle, strong wi-fi but I wouldn't stay here again. Nicer 5 star hotels in the neighborhood where you will get pampered, not given a 3 star experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a bridge view. No loud, smoking employees or trash pickup trucks.

This was a good modern hotel .we were in the regular rooms which were well equipped and comfortable. Bathrooms were very modern too, which was good. Enjoyed the breakfast! Very helpful staff in the restaurant . The view of the Bosphorus from the breakfast area was a good start to the day. Location convenient, not too far from the Dolmabaghche Palace. I would recommend this hotel to business travellers as well as tourists.

Everything you'd expect from a Radisson Blu, with a super-comfortable large bed, immaculate housekeeping, well-stocked minibar and good quality toiletries. Thoughtfully designed storage and lighting make these rooms a practical choice, whether you are a single business traveller or a couple staying a week and wanting some elbow room. My bright and airy bedroom had fantastic views of the Bosphorus Bridge; one of my colleagues enjoyed a view across the water to the Blue Mosque and Sultanahmet; just don't get fobbed off with a street-facing room. The location is great for access to business districts and airport as well as nightlife and stunning restaurants. Free wi-fi, decent breakfast buffet, polite and charming staff.

This hotel is located by the Bosphorus, providing a very beautiful view from some rooms and from the restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helps you a lot. Breakfast is good and the bar is very nice place to share time with friends or co workers.

Rooms are very comfortable, well equipped, good amenities and good sleep quality

If you want to visit the Blue Mosque or Agia Sophia Area, make sure you first get information on how to use the trams. It is easy to take a taxi from the hotel and get there (traffic is very heavy), but coming back to the hotel, taxi drivers don´t want to take you because of the traffic and if they take you, they charge a lot for the trip (more than double than the way in). There is a tram that crosses the bridge and takes you to the other side of the channel. From there it is easier to get a Taxi to the hotel, and way less expensive

There is a very good Japanese restaurant just in front the main entrance. Don't miss it!!

Room Tip: Room with view to the Bosphorus! Amazing to pamper the senses

The location in Ortakoy is ideal for those looking for fun in neighbourhood since it is situated near main night life places in Istanbul.
Hotel is clean, rooms are not so spacious as expected, but it is pretty much the same in all hotels from this chain. Hotel has wonderful view to Bosporus and the atmosphere is great.
The service is great. They arrange us all the reservations in main restaurants and also a guide tour around the city that I warmly recommend. This is the most efficient way to see the city.
