we visited on christmas eve and lit candles for our loved ones. it was so busy but there was a great sense of calm and wellbeing .
My daughter bought a beautiful rosary and there were many reasonably priced gifts to be had, with all monies going to the upkeep of this beautiful church.
There was a special service at 21.00, which was the nativity service.
This is a must see place on the list for travellers to Istanbul.
We visit it every time we come here.

In the crowds of Istiklal Street, you will find the peace in the garden of St. Paul. Guests who visits Istanbul can join the mass everyday and church it self is very calm...

I went to Sunday mass at St Anthony de Padua a few weeks ago. The English mass is at 10am. It was very solemn with a nice filipino choir. The church was full during the service. It was somewhat interesting to be in a Catholic church among so many mosques. Istiklal Avenue is very nice to stroll but not all stores are open on Sundays. Ride the streetcar along Istiklal but you need different tokens than the ones used for light rail cars.
