The Mevlana is a small, quite comfortable and friendly-priced hotel on a perfect location: in the heart of picturesque (and very touristy) Sultanahmed, still on a quiet part of the street. The rooms are a bit crammed, but clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The restaurant on top makes for a lovely view during breakfast. Recommended.

Booked this hotel based on comments on this website, confirmed by other research and we were not sorry. Safe area, small but lovely rooms, good breakfast with attentive staff and close to Sultanahmet tram station which connects you to everything else. Easy walk to Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Special mention must be made of Aenas, the receptionist who went beyond the call of duty in his helpfulness and recommendations.

This hotel is not top shelf but very well priced for the type of hotel. Location is excellent not too close to the mosques for morning prayers. Let's face it, if you are in Turkey you'll hear the morning prayers but you dont want it in your ear. Rooms are small but clean and adequate. Serviced daily with attentive staff. The breakfast room is up on the top level with views to the sea. Breakfast quite basic: lots of plates but when you actually look at them, a lot of similarities. There are quite a lot of restaurants in the area and its within walking distance to the major sites. Yusef on the reception desk has excellent English and a mine of information. Actually both the boys on reception are delightful. The only suggestion to the hotel owners is to get that gadget off all the bedroom doors that make the doors go SLAM whenever anyone goes in or out of their rooms. Frustrating when people come in late at night.

Room Tip: Breakfast starts at 7.00am. So if you want to sleep in dont get a room on the floor under the break...

I was visiting Istanbul enroute to a conference at Izmir, Had a day to spare to take a look around Istanbul. I found the place through online searching, when i reached Istanbul it was night and had a little trouble finding the place as there are many hotels around the same location. The room I got was small but comfortable with no windows for any appreciable views. I found the place to be clean and well maintained. All the nearby monuments were in a walking distance and covered most of them by foot. I travelled by tram and metro to reach airport and it will take approximately 40 mins. The wifi was a boon as I had loads of email to check n reply and also chat. I enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor with a wonderful view and the hospitality of the staff was friendly and enjoyable. there is a small door to the terrace which also gives the views around.. Totally a clean and enjoyable place to stay with good breakfast.

Staff very helpful and friendly.
We asked them to recommend a restaurant nearby and were pleased with their choice.
Breakfast on the roof top terrace, in the sunshine with a sea view was fantastic.
Room was small but comfortable and clean.
Good location for nearby attractions like the Blue Mosque and Basilica Cistern, which is important as you want to get there early to beat the queues. Generally quite a nice area to walk around. Park and sea front are nearby.
Overall good value for money.

Nice room with big windows and hardwood floors, comfortable bed and hot shower, very clean. Split unit AC/Heater with a remote control so you can adjust it from bed. Good buffet breakfast, including sausage and boiled eggs, on terrace with a view of the Marmara Sea two blocks away on one side and the Blue Mosque three blocks away on the other side. Omelettes made to order only TL10 (US$5.60) extra. Good coffee. Plenty of restaurants and shops right outside. Courteous staff. Small but fast elevator. Two WiFi servers, one for the rooms -- modest speed but good for checking email -- and faster server for the lobby. If you can't access the WiFI, try the password for the other server. Any drawbacks? I really can't think of anything.
