I stayed here for a weekend break and thought the location was great, service however was not. This is the second Marmara I have stayed in in Turkey and service is just not good enough. The room was fine, a little awkward in that if I looked out my window I could see the guy in the next room through his window as they jutted out, and even worse, I could hear his entire phone call through the thin wall. But the worst was the bar on the roof. It was a hot day and we were very excited to be going to the rooftop pool at 6.05pm. But no, the pool closes at 6pm even though it is tiny ad out of the way of the bar, they chain it off....very annoying. Then, even more annoying, we ordered two glasses of wine. Lovely. Went to charge to our room as we had not brought our wallets to swim with and were told this bar is not part of the hotel!!! When I asked at reception they told Me I had to find the 'right' waiter to be able to charge to the room. Surely they should tell guests of this bizarre arrangement?? You are on the roof after all. Great location, rubbish customer care. Same as Marmara Bodrum

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your ideas with us.

I would like to apologize on behalf of my colleague with whom there probably had been a miscommunication about poolbar services. Pool is closing everyday at 18:00 because of the night bar operation. After 18:00 Rooftop Bar & Restaurant is open till midnight and Mikla Restaurant is not under hotel management therefore reception gave this hapless explanation.

You should come back to İstanbul and visit our hotel once again; we are in desperate need of your evaluations.

Kind regards,

We stayed in this hotel on the 19th of July. We may say that the hotel is in the hearth of taksim and very close to Asmalımescit district which is famous for the night life. The pool is quite small but has a great view. The roof bar and the elegant restaurnt called Mikla is worth to try. The service in the reception was excellent.

I staid a couple of days for business in this hotel located in the heart of the European center of Istanbul. Although I was there for business main reason for this hotel was to be able to see the highlights of the city in walking distance so that my wife could enjoy the time being there as well. The location of the hotel is perfect for that! A few steps away from the main shopping street ‘Istiklal street’, 5 minutes walk from Taksim square, 15 minutes walk from the “Galata Bridge” and in walking distance of the old spice market, the Blue Musk and all other cultural highlights. The hotel is located on one of the highest points of the city surrounded by small bars, restaurants etc. In the evening you walk out the door and you will be overwhelmed with the local cuisine and many other options. Due to the location the view out of the rooms is amazing and spectacular on the roof. The rooms are not special but good enough, although the shower is a bit small, but most important the beds are great! The breakfast is good, many choices and fresh made.

Hotel staff is friendly and helpful in general but we did face some issues; we need to pay suddenly ‘extra’ upon arrival because we used a double room with two people, pick-up service from the airport is extremely overcharged and not well organized. More shocking was the fact we ‘lost’ a hotel key but the next day it was back; it appeared housekeeping took one of the keys. Also by checking out it appears our bill had some ‘extra’s’ which wasn’t clear what is was and which was removed instantly. One major advice is to enjoy the roof for sunbathing and the view and the very small pool on it during the day. In the evenings avoid it because it is explored by an external company with outraises prices. I like to pay a bit extra for the view but this is beyond reasonable. The same if applicable for the roof restaurant, also outsourced and although the quality is good and they pretend to be a Michelin star location price-quality is just not in-line. Front desk staff has clearly receive instructions to get guess into this place, in that case you got tricked.

Despite the location, the good breakfast and the view I won’t go back to this hotel: there are similar locations in newer buildings with the same view and a better price-quality level. My advice is look a bit further around if you find something similar near (which is) and book this hotel only when the others are booked.

Room Tip: All rooms have a nice view, the lower levels have some more noices of the streets and the traffic while the higher rooms facing long waiting times for the elevators.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for your detailed comment on our property and service.
We are %100 percent sure that many other guests will benefit from your review while they are planning their upcoming stays.

The Marmara Pera is located in parallel street of İstiklal, main commercial street of İstanbul, and the hotel is surrounded by many other hotels. Even if each of them has their own characteristic sides, The Marmara Pera has been the most popular one since it was first founded in 2004 due to the fact that guest satisfaction is always the main goal of all our staff.

Our rooftop restaurant, Mikla, is one of the best fine-dining restaurants of İstanbul and is loved by hundreds of both locals and tourists with its ever-delicious meals and breath-taking view.

İstanbul, the city that never sleeps, has a lot to offer, for sure.

The Marmara Pera will always be delighted to welcome you, whenever you want.

Kind Regards,

Our cruise line, Windstar, booked us into this hotel. My review is short as we did not stay the night.
After waiting for a couple of hours in the hot, stuffy, busy lobby we were finally shown to a room on the 12th floor. The room was small and felt very cramped with outdated furnishings. We could not get the air conditioning to cool the room sufficiently. I attempted to bath in the very small bath which is also the shower and has high sides together with shower doors on the bath, making it difficult to manoeuvre in or out of said bath unless you are very young and fit! We ordered lunch via room service and the waiter knocked the Coke into my food while assisting us to search for a bottle opener for the cold drinks. Totally due to cramped space in the room, not his fault at all. In spite of the fact that the cruise line had paid for our stay here, made a decision to leave this hotel and pay our own way somewhere else.
