I came across this museum in the Istanbul forum, and was happy about the recommendation when we found ourself in Sarayer. We got off a Bosphorus ferry boat earlier then expected, as it was really cold and we felt we've had enough ferry experience. The Sadberk Hanim has an interesting collection of archeological findings, dating from 7000 BC or so, as well as a floor dedicated to a unique Ottoman embroidery collection. In order to get there, you need to turn left as you leave the ferry docks and walk about 1-1.2 km ( a bit less then a mile) 'till you see it across the street. The ticket is 20 tl and if you have a museumcart (which you should) you get a 59% dicount). I would not travel to Sarayer just for this museum, but if you get there it's worth it.

I heard about this museum a lot before .At this time i decided to visit it.And i took bus from Kabatas to Sariyer, perhaps 25 minutes and i left bus, "Beyaz Park" station. The biulding of museum looks very nice, almost airy....The exposition was wonderful, pity i couldnot take the pictures of perfect needlework....You should see everything by your own eyes!I was very impressed of ancient dresses of turkish women.I advice to everyone, find hour or two and visit this museum at Sariyer! (I should say also, this place Sariyer is wonderful too, you can drink tea and look at Bosfor!)

Definitely not on the tourist track, this small museum is worth seeking out: a bus or taxi can get you here easily. Located right on the Bosphorus, the two buildings have been thoughtfully laid out. The "bones" of the buildings are as interesting as the exhibits (staircases, bannisters, windows). The collection of Ottoman dresses, shoes, scarves etc. Is astounding and priceless. Located in a lovely old home, this museum demonstrates once again how beautifully Turkey preserves its antiquities.

The bus stops in front of the museum. The busride took almost an hour and is along the coastline of the Bosporus. We were the only visitors and surprised by the beauty of the building and the collection.
