“Art workshops”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

What a special find! This arts foundation has a gallery and offers classes in traditional Turkish arts, including tile-painting, calligraphy and paper marbling. We took the marbling class, called Ebru in Turkish. It was fascinating to watch Josh work. After his demonstration, Josh led us in creating several pieces of our own. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Josh is patient and informative. His own artworks are fantastic, too.

“Unexpected hands-on art class amidst all the sight-seeing”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Charming locals art gallery with emphasis on well-crafted regional traditional 2D. But they also offer interesting 1hour personal workshops in calligraphy and marbling. I took paper marbling. Coskun ("Josh") is very engaging, good instructor. Provides beautiful local music to work to. He is s hands-off or engaged as you'd like when you have your time at the marbling trough (not sure what it's called). Your works available dried for next day pickup. Time well-spent away from sight-seeing.

“Something fun to do with the kids”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

We walked into the art gallery and Coskun (Josh), an amazing artist, was there to greet us and tell us about the awesome art they had in the shop. It's all done by local artists and he told us all about the beautiful art school they run. In the shop they have a little area set up where you can sign your kids up to do an hour-long workshop where they get to learn how to do a painting done with a traditional technique called Ebru. We decided to sign both of our kids up and they had so much fun! It was a chance to take home something unique and done by our kids AND they loved it! it's a perfect break from sightseeing that brings you a little bit closer to such a lovely culture. I believe it was 80 lira for one hour, for both kids. The next day we went back with a few of our friends' kids and mine did it again. Just so cool!

“An inspiring place that is a must see!”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

This gallery and traditional Turkish arts school are not to be missed. Our host, Coskun, was very helpful and knowledgeable and has patiently shown my son the traditional art of Ebru and Calligraphy quite a few times. The gallery room is filled with some amazing pieces created by Coskun and his colleagues. You can browse those with or without Coskun's expert guidance and a delicious Turkish tea in hand.
You can't visit a gallery and not the school at the end of the alleyway. You will come to a beautiful courtyard surrounded with rooms, each displaying different traditional Turkish arts and crafts.
Coskun - thank you so much for showing us around!
