“Clean, Comfortable and Great Value”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

This charming hotel is located just a few minutes walk from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. There are many restaurants, bars and cafes just outside the doors (although it was very quiet at night). It is a great location for exploring the Sultanhamet by foot and close enough for a nice stroll accross the Golden Horn to explore the Bosphorus. Erhan was very helpful and welcoming to all his guests and was very prompt in replying to any online request that I had before I arrived. They do offer transport to and from Attaturk for 20 euros (per trip, not per person). He spoke wonderful English and was very helpful in finding nearby places to eat. You cannot beat the views for breakfast! The only small thing about the hotel is that you can hear people in the hallway, but it does not last long. My next trip to Istanbul will be spent at the Hotel Peninsula!

Room Tip: I stayed in a basement room and it was very quiet with a window that looked out onto a marble walkwa...

What a pleasure to stay in this hotel in the "old Istanbul" and very near the places to visit.!: very clean, reniewed, nice place to take the breakfast at the top level with a very nice view on the Sea.
The reception is very helpful and always ready to help you if needed. And the all with a great kindness. This one has arranged our transport from/to the AIrport (Ataturk, 20€) without any problem.
In the near area we can find some restaurants but the place where this hotel is located is very quiet.

We stayed at the peninsula hotel end of february 2012 and had a wonderful stay. The breakfast every morning was great and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast terrace is a bit chilly in the winter, but the views are great!

Thank you!

Room Tip: We took a double basement room. They are very good, eventhough they are called "basement"...

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were simple but very, very clean and nicely decorated. It appeared that they had been renovated recently. Also, the bathrooms were a good size- the shower was large and ran nice hot water...such a great feeling after a long day of sight-seeing! The bed was pretty comfy and our room had a window with a nice view of Sultanahmet and what I think were some fig trees. Very warm and inviting atmosphere.

As for the location, it could not have gotten any better. We were smack in the middle of the Old Town (Sultanahmet) with its adorable cobbled streets and beautiful restaurants lining the walkways. This area is charming and safe and we loved it.This is an all pedestrian area, so there isn't really any noise from traffic and we did not once take a cab...all of the attractions are well within walking distance.

What really set this place apart was the breakfast. The food itself was good (and the guy serving it was really on the ball) with fresh cheese, veggies and breads but the real treat was the panoramic view. Breakfast was served on a rooftop terrace which reached above the whole of the Old Town. From it, you can see the beautiful bright blue water of the Sea of Marmara, all of the charming rooftops of the city, the Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque. We got photos up there that we could not have gotten anywhere else.

The front desk staff was very nice, accommodating and helpful. The only thing is that, when we decided to take a tour of the Cappodocia region, they referred us to a tour company that charged WAY too much. Do not use this tour company!!! Instead, I spoke with a friend who referred me to a different travel agency located inside the Orient Hostel one street over and we got a the same tour for not even 2/3 of the price and really excellent service. (By the way, Cappadocia is a must-do if you are in Turkey!)

Overall, this hotel was a total bargain and a dream for travelers who are following a budget.

The rooms in this hotel are simple, but good enough for people like us who don't spend much time ACTUALLY in the room! There's a lot to see and do in Istanbul, you need to get out of your room to do it all! Fortunately, most of the BEST places to see are in walking distance from this hotel.

The breakfast was always clean and decent. Nice local style - bread, cheese, pomegranate juice, rich tea, etc. The neighborhood is full of cafes, bars, bistros and you'll never be hungry or bored in this area!

You'll find hundreds of places to stay in this tourist zone, and they're all similar. However the nice guy working at the desk of this place makes it a bit special. He got us a great deal on a Bosporus boat tour and gave us good advice about what to go see. We felt we were treated like friends, and it made us love Turkey.

I'll hopefully re-visit, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, convenient place to stay in Istanbul.

Located in Sultanahmet, this hotel is a quick walk away from most major attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread, though not expansive, was served at the terrace restaurant overlooking the sea; which was a big plus. The room was basic, but clean, warm and cosy. Our room was on the top floor, next to the restaurant, so we could just walk out on the terrace when we felt like, which was great. There was no view directly from the room, though.
Overall, a great bargain in terms of comfort, accommodation, location and food.

We statyed at this wonderful small hotel during our recent trip to Istanbul. It was a nice and very clean hotel with good service and helpful staff. It located in a safe area where we did not worry about waking even late at night. You can see the see the Sea of Marmara from the terrace where the breakfast room is located.
The Blue mosque, Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Archaelogical Museum, Sulamaniyae Mosque, Bascilica Cistern and the ferry for the Bosphorus are within easy walking distance or a short tram car ride away. The same tram car can take you to Taksim Square which is the heart of modern Istanbul.
What more can you ask for or need? We recommend it unconditionally.
