“A peaceful, cozy place to stay--we hope to go back some day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2011

We stayed four nights at the Hotel Peninsula and would love to go back if we're lucky enough to get back to Istanbul some day. The rooms were clean, comfortable, quiet, and pretty. I can say this with authority because we stayed in three different ones. First, on the main floor--I would gladly have stayed in this room, but on our second room we were moved to the top floor, which was even nicer. This room had beautiful views of Istanbul's Sultanahmet area and the Bosphorus strait--AND, it was adjacent to the breakfast area. This was a plus, as breakfast was delicious (and included with the price of the room). We loved eating it up on the terrace, outside with more wonderful views of the city. We traveled around Turkey for a week and came back to Istanbul at the end of our trip and had yet another room--not the "penthouse" this time but a room on the street side, second floor. This room had the benefit of being extremely cool--we never needed the AC, which is incredible for Istanbul in July. Everyone who worked at the hotel was extremely helpful and kind--a number of the workers speak excellent English (and also correspond over email in English). This isn't necessary for a hotel stay, but it's helpful. The Peninsula Hotel is also close to many of Istanbul's attractions--the Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, bazaars, archaeology museum, Topkapi Palace, and Galata Tower (Beyoglu area) were all within walking distance for us. The hotel is rather small, so not appropriate for large tour groups, but for couples, families, or small groups it is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: For views--the top (fourth) floor. For cool temperature in summer--street side (room 202, for exampl...

This hotel is in a great location, near Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque. Beyoglu is only a short tram ride away. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is great, and a perfect way to start an Istanbul day. The roof terrace is open all day and night, and features views of the Sea of Marmara.

The staff is incredibly friendly, especially the guy at the front desk, who was always eager to help or chat. There were some minor problems with the internet, but he was able to fix them right away.

I had a great stay here, for eight nights, and I would definitely return.

Located in a picture perfect dead end street and with no through traffic, think trailing Wisteria vines, Bougainvillea, pots full of Geraniums and Petunias and you will have an idea what it is like to walk down the street to this excellent Hotel. The rooms were great with small but very good bathrooms. The views from the Terrace are excellent, breakfast included in the price was excellent, lots of fresh good food. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we would go and stay again any time.

We stayed at the Peninsula for 9 nites at the beginning of a month in Turkey.
It was the perfect location with which to explore the city on foot. Restaurants were close, but the hotel is just off of the busy , noisy main row.
The rooms were clean, bright, cheery, and in working order. The bed very comfy. All staff was pleasant, friendly, and very helpful. First name basis was established quickly.
The breakast was always fresh, tastey and more than adequate.
The roof top terrace was our favorite place to linger over breakfast, plan our day, and watch the hundreds of ships, ferries, and pilot boats travel though the Bosphorus.
The terrace was also a special place to enjoy a bottle of wine at a peaceful spot within this bustling city.
One of the best attributes of the Peninsula is the ever smiling and laughing "go-to guy" Rohat. He is a gem. He can assist with just about anything you need. From dealing with a delayed flight, shuttle arrangements, delayed luggage, phone card problems. to where to purchase train tickets.
Very fun-loving and excellent english. We wanted to adopt him as our son.
The Peninsuls is an exceptional value in the heart of Sultanamet.

Room Tip: Front is best. The call to Prayer emits from a minaret directly behind the hotel.

This hotel is the perfect place to stay in the old part of Istanbul! Rooms are clean and well maintained. The location in perfect. You can get to many major attractions on foot from the hotel. You can enjoy the start of your day with a great breakfast while enjoying the view from the roof terrace overlooking the sea; you can even see the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia from the terrace. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We had a small problem with a light in our room and as soon as we reported it, it was taken care of. Rohat, the staff person who seemed to be around most of the time when we were there was also a great help with arranging tours and just helping with all of our questions. It was our first trip to Istanbul. Would love to go back as it is an amazing place and if/when I do, Hotel Peninsula will be my base of operations! Thanks Rohat!

I booked this place after reading about it in lonely planet and I was not disappointed. The hotel was centrally located with only a 5 minute walk to Haghia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. The breakfast was simple, but good and the views from the terrace were outstanding. Considering what you get, the price of 60 euros a night is certainly a steal. The staff, especially Rohat, were extremely helpful and were able to answer every question I had. If I were to come back to istanbul (and this is likely), I would surely stay at the Peninsula again.
