I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and have mixed feelings about the place.
Most rooms face an internal courtyard. The first room we were given was very noisy as it was too close to the elevator, so we spoke to reception and they changed us to a different room, which was good.
However in both rooms there was no natural light and because the rooms were very small I felt a bit claustrophobic.
Checking the fire escape route I noticed only very few rooms have views to the street or the sea.
Cleanliness could be a bit better as our bed linen had stains, but it wasn't dirty.
Full breakfast was very good, but I disliked the fact that the price was quoted as 10 euros, but in the time of paying they charged me in turkish lira, and the conversion rate was obviously very bad, so I wasn't happy about that.
Service was reasonable but not that great.
Location is very good as it is a 15min walk from the main attractions.
I would not stay there again, but it wasn't a bad experience. I would shop around a bit more.

Stayed here 3 nights in a standard room overlooking central courtyard. Room was very small, bathroom was large. All staff friendly especially the young trainee staff. Had fun conversing via our iphone translator with one staff member while having drinks in the bar area. She spoke limited English & we spoke no Turkish but we could type in conversations with her and translate them so we could both understand each other!Good variety of food available for breakfast. Handy location to tram & of course the grand bazaar.

5 days stay here at perfect location in Old-Istanbul. 10min from the great attractions. Great bazaar is at the opposite 5 min to go. Room is clean. Think the better and more 'lifestyle' breakfast is in any bar, cafe, ... Spanish spoken and I would say a *** Hotel. A bit old, lacking and should have been revitalized.

After several trips to Istanbul, I decided to stay at Sultanhamet area where all the major atractions are located. Barcelo Saray is a hotel with spanish speaking staff and average installations. Rooms are on the noisy side. Breakfast and dinner choices are limited and average quality . Rooms are apacious but lacking character. The tram just infront rides you after two stops (running to the right) to Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque and to Topaki palace at the third stop. The Grand bazaar is just across the street. Avoid taxis in Istanbul: they will scam you 100 % of the time. The hotel as a very cheap airport transfer on departure which is worth a try because of the taxi issue before commented. Frankly speaking I prefer to stay at the European side of the city and sleep at one of the major chain's hotels.

Room Tip: Avoid front rooms because of traffic noise

The Good: This hotel is in an awesome location! The Grand Bazaar and Süleymaniye Mosque are right across the street, and bigger attractions like Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace are just a nice 15 minute walk down the street. The food offered by the hotel was also nice, and the restaurant had a great view.

The Bad: The standard room, while modern and clean, was small and cramped. The AC in the room was also weak. While the location is great, if you don't want to be awakened by the call to prayer across the street at 5:30AM, then this is not the hotel for you. The staff, while helpful, did not know English well, so making requests was often difficult and time consuming.

Overall, I really enjoyed staying here, and I would come back again.

Just returned from a 5 night stay, in Istanbul. Arrived at hotel, and was told they were overbooked, but would transfer us to the 5 star Barcello Ereskin Topkapi, for the night. Also our room would be upgraded, the following day, they gave us a King size Mosque view room, plus complimentary breakfast, for the duration of our stay.. It was a little glitch, but not enough to spoil our stay, and in all honesty, they could not have offered us more, or been nicer, even down to the platter of fruit and nuts in our room, and the card wishing us a happy stay.It is close to everything, and easily accessible from the airport by Metro and Tram, 6 TL each way, the tram stop is virtually outside the Hotel !! Breakfast was good, and in my opinion, more than adequate. The staff are lovely, very friendly, but also, I thought, quite professional. I should also mention the shower, loved that shower !! All in all,a very good choice, well managed, spotlessly clean, and close to a lot of the sights.I liked Istanbul, and will go back. Would not hesitate to stay here again, cannot fault it.

Room Tip: You will get woken very early, by the call to prayer, if you have a Mosque view room !! However, per...

Very good.
When we arrived we have been told that there were an overbooking for the first night and consequently that we would have an upgrade for that night + for the room we normally have in the Barcelo Saray for the rest of our stay.
So when we came back we had a room with a Mosque view.
The hotel is very well situated : in front or of the "Grand Bazaar" and very close to tramway which is also at two stations of Sultanhamet.
Regarding the hotel itself, it is contemporary and clean.
Staff very kind and helpful.
Thanks very much !
