I attended the Artwalk in Nisantasi and loved it! We met around noon at an easy to find hot spot in Nisantasi. The coordinators welcomed us cheerfully and the tour started after they gave a brief introduction about the neighborhood. The galleries were quite close to each other so the walk was not too challenging. We also got a break in the middle and they took us to a beautiful cafe - a hidden gem where locals hang out. (Home made lemonade was delicious!) The group was not too large so we got to know the other participants as well. I think we visited 4-5 galleries and saw artwork from both local and international artists. Our tour guide provided a lot of information about the gallery and its position in the istanbul art scene and the types of works they host. She also talked about the artist, theme and techniques used. The staff at the art galleries was very nice and accommodating as well. They gave us booklets, postcards etc and answered questions. Oh, and we got to meet the artist at one of the galleries:) So, great experience overall. I would definitely do the art walks in other parts of the city if I had more time in istanbul.
