“Tries hard but quality falls short”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Follows the European trend that Western Istanbul seems to crave and succeeds with aesthetics at both locations I tried. But quality is average at best.

“Overpriced, arrogant, average.”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

After walking all over the place, my husband and I decided to come here for a drink and to eat. The food looked ok but was a bit overpriced for what it was. I ordered a small side salad for 14 TL (around 7€) and I definitely would've been better off getting street food. The salad itself was tasty, albeit small for the price. My husband only ordered a lemonade to drink, the waiter brought him an iced tea. When my husband said it wasn't a lemonade (without drinking it first!), the waiter just sort of shrugged and insisted it was a lemonade. We asked another waiter who took it back, but when the original waiter returned, he just sort of looked at us like it wasn't possible. There were certainly more locals than tourists at this House Café locale, but that doesn't mean the waiters need to be arrogant and ignore us. Sure, we weren't dressed in luxury clothing like the locals (as they were all probably doing their high end shopping), but it doesn't mean that we should be treated any less. Save your money and go elsewhere. This particular House Café didn't do it for me.

“Great for a snack and people watching”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Visited here whilst shopping in the chic fashion district. Great place to watch the trendy locals and soaking up the atmosphere. My wife had a delicious salad and I had the chicken noodles.

“Nice place to relax with a coffee.”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

There are a 14 of these around Istanbul, they have a contemporary interior and are a nice place to relax with a coffee, grab breakfast or a snack. They aren't the cheapest place to eat in Istanbul, but if you're a tourist they are still quite reasonable. We visited the one in the Sisli area near Macka Palas. It was just round the corner from our hotel and was a cheaper alternative to the hotel's breakfast rate.

It was packed with locals when we went so that has to be a good sign :-)

We like the seasoned fries that came with their version of a Club sandwich...

“A real 'cafe'”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

What makes a coffee house, a 'real' cafe'? Is it the coffee? the food? The desserts? House cafe in Nisantasi has them all(it's a chain). Good food at a reasonable price(not cheap), great coffee, and amazing desserts. Amongt my favorites are, Ayiran with mint and basil, chestnut espresso cheesecake, pear roquefort pizza or kadaiff schnitzel...the list goes on. Try the backyard sitting, and don't be afraid to ask for the English menu.
