“Escape the busy city”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

The Yildiz Palace (Chalet) is situated in Yildiz Park which extends to the shores of the Bosphorus. We took the tram to Kabatas and from there the bus which stops near the entrance to the park. Take bus 25E, 22, 22RE and get off at the Ciragan stop. From there you walk to the park and entrance to the park is free. Then it is a beautiful but steep walk of about 2km to the Chalet , but the walk is lovely as the road is good and you are surrounded by the trees and flowers. The Palace was used by Sultan Abdulhamid the second as he considered it more secure than the Dolmabahce. The interior decorating is beautiful with wall and ceiling paintings and the large tiled stoves from Sweden is wonderful. In the Grand Hall is a 400 square meter carpet which is one of the largest hand-woven carpets in the world. This is really worth a visit as it feels like a country retreat from the busy city.
