We saw this as we approached the Bosphorus bridge on a cruise tour of the area. Richly ornate but small in size.

Very nice place to spend time! It is very busy over there. It is facing the Bosphorus and there are a lot of places to eat! Kumpir is the must-try thing in Ortaköy. It is available in all of the restaurants around there. Nice view and a lot of people, you won’t even remember for how long you were there!

Everybody knows Büyük Mecidiye Camii, but hardly any tourist knows it under this name. It is, quite simply, Ortaköy Mosque. The view of this mosque with the Bosphorus Bridge behind it is famous all over the world. You can see it when you are in Ortaköy or while you are on a Bosphorus boat trip. You can also look down upon it as you cross the bridge.
For a long time it had been hidden under the "camouflage" for buildings under restauration. Luckily enough, you can visit it again now.
It is quite different from other mosques in Istanbul, and it is elegant and full of light.

This beautiful mosque is well known as Ortakoy Mosque and it’s located in an amazing place by the waters close to Bosphorus. This is the smallest mosque I have witnessed in Turkey but it’s very simple and beautiful. Landscape is breathtaking and surrounded with good restaurants and cafe’s. I recommend to visit this place in the evening time when it’s not hot so you can enjoy more!

Very fotogenic mosque on European side, close to 1. Bridge in Ortaköy, Beşiktaş. Famous for Kumpir (filled potatoe) and waffles. Many cafés with view on the mosque. Interior is very much worth seering too.
Reachable by bus (from Kabataş tram) or taxi.
