Pera museum is over 4 floors, when we visited it in Jan 2014 it was recommended to start from the top floor. The exhibitions were very good and was very well curated. Excellent eyes to the curators.
The permanent exhibition about scales was very good too.
Very much recommended.
It has a beautiful caffee but we did not try it as we were on schedule.

This small museum has some interesting exhibits, in a lovely setting, very comfortable, with places to sit. It is pretty easy to find, close to Istakal Street.

Small private museum beautifully presented and certainly very peaceful when I visited. Start on the 5th floor and work your way down. I enjoyed the 'Orientalist' paintings in particular. Elegant salon on the ground floor in Art Deco style for coffee and a cake

We left the children behind and came here for a lovely 1 hour viewing of the weights and measures; but to really enjoy the turtles. We topped our time here with a cake and coffee at the cafe on the first floor. If you have an hour and just want to enjoy a small museum, this is a great place to be.

Heard about Pera Museum from a Rick Steves' guidebook. It is located behind a popular and busy shopping street. You can even take an historical tram ride along this route that begins at Taksim Square. Walking to Pera was easy from Taksim Square and is a nice museum that I found enjoyable and quiet. The first floor contains an impressive collection of weights and measures but I really went to see "The Tortoise Trainer" painting by Osman Hamdi Bey, a talented artist who I believe was also curator and founder of the Archaeology Museum and responsible for its early excavations. I also enjoyed the paintings depicting ambassadors and scenes of ambassador visits to Topkapi Palace. The top 3 floors contain temporary exhibits. The entire visit took only about 1 hour. The museum contains benches on every floor for sitting. There is a small gift shop and a large cafe with mainly drinks and desserts.
