“Best in Istanbul”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

This is at this moment the best hotel I have stayed in in Istanbul. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Quiet and calm neighborhood. Top quality rooms, great service, clean, really clean. My room was spacious, full suite. Great views on the marina and the Bosphorus. Staff is efficient, fast, courteous. Every question is answered accurately, and nothing is a problem. The food is great, the bar, overlooking the Bosphorus is a place to relax after a day hard work. You just get spoiled. Top class.
Highly recommendable for business meeting and events. Will go back

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms with marina view. You have the sun on your tbalcony. After a day work you can can...

Stayed for 3 nights in this beautiful hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Loved the clean and spacious rooms overlooking the Bosphorus. And extremely efficient and friendly staff made it all so much more memorable.

Room Tip: Corner suites have the best views.

a very nice hotel with stunning view of the Bosphorus. The staff are curteous and service is super fast. The rooms are good, clean and carry all the necessities of life.
The best thing i liked about (which so far i have not experienced) was the moment i was sitting in the taxi and the bell boy said "sir, did you carry your passport, cell phone & necessary documents...the time to airport will be 1hr" and that was really good !

I stayed in this hotel while on business in Istanbul. I really liked the location: right on the Bosphorus in a more quiet part of town 30 min from the city centre. If you are looking for a hotel in the city centre in the middle of the action, this is not the place you are looking for. A number of typical Turkish restaurants in the area which I found of good quality with a focus on fish. The hotel is newly openend which is noticeable. There are some teething problems. I had a significant leak coming from from the room above my room. Also the staff was not well trained yet. All problems were very elegantly solved. Rooms were clean and of sufficient size. All in all I recommend this place.

Stayed for two nights and very much enjoyed my stay. My girlfriend and I were there to celebrate a special occasion. We had originally intended to stay 4 nights in the Beskitas/Dolmabahce area of Istanbul, but due to the fluid situation with the protests, we decided to spend our last two nights in the north of the city exploring the towns along the Bosphorus. We did not regret our decision to stay at the Grand Tarabya - the hotel was beautiful as advertised and we had a relaxing and restful visit.

We were upgraded to a junior suite with a garden view upon check-in, which given the curvature of the hotel still had a view of both the marina and the Bosphorus. The room was very modern and new and we very much enjoyed the spacious bathroom, with the rainfall shower feature, as well as our cozy living room. Our favorite feature was the lighting, which features different modes depending on the ambiance you want to achieve.

Service for the most part was superb. The reception and concierge staff was excellent and very efficient. We had an issue on our floor with children from a block of other rooms running wild in the hallway at 11pm. A call to the reception desk quickly resulted in a security member sent up to our floor to resolve the noise complaint. In addition, the reception and concierge desks were very helpful in helping meet our various requests during our visit. In particular, we would like to thank Alparslan Y., Simge D., and Sercan K. for making our stay enjoyable.

Our only complaint would have to be the service at the Brasserie Restaurant. For both dinner and breakfast, service was quite slow at the Brasserie with wait staff standing idly by on the side having conversations with one another. In addition, for breakfast, I was very much offended on having received the bill despite not even finishing my first course. Another table next to us also echoed this complaint. Plates during breakfast time were very slow to be collected (in spite of staff being widely available) and the food was not too fresh (the fruit on the breakfast spread looked old). I echoed my complaints to the Front Desk Manager and he graciously comped us breakfast. For breakfast, I would suggest avoiding the Brasserie (if the buffet is not included in your rate) and opt for room service or the R.E.A.D. Cafe (also on-site) instead. These two options are more affordable and the service quality is much better. We very much enjoyed our dining experiences through room service and the R.E.A.D. cafe.

While at the Grand Tarabya, I would highly suggest taking advantage of the Therapia Spa onsite. My girlfriend and I took advantage of Traditional Turkish Bath in a couple's suite and it was an outstanding experience. The relaxation room, steam rooms and sauna, and indoor/outdoor pools are also an excellent way to unwind after a day of sightseeing and exploring (especially in hot weather).

Overall, save a negative experience with the Brasserie Restaurant, we had a wonderful stay at the Grand Tarabya. We would not hesitate to stay again at this modern and spacious hotel (whose original incarnation in the late 19th/early 20th centuries catered to the guests of the Simplon-Orient Express).

Been there for 4 nights, i can assure all people seeking for good services, nice rooms with stunning view this is the place to be.
It's not in the center of Istanbul, for me it's better to be in a nice spot when you go back to your hotel.
One tiny complain, the continental breakfast is too expensive comparing others 5 stars hotels.

This hotel just opened earlier this year and it is gorgeous. The rooms, lounges, spa, pool and restaurants are beautiful and luxurious. Our room had an amazing view of the Bosphorus. The local restaurants are nearby and very good. The room and hotel was very clean and our room was very large and comfortable. The breakfast buffet every morning was very good and with a large variety of choices. Overall, the hotel has a great atmosphere and feel. However, the location of the hotel is not the best. It is far from the tourist center of Istanbul (especially due to the traffic in the city) and there is no convenient public transportation. Also, we had a problem with a broken thermostat in the room and although we called the front desk twice, there was no responsive repairs so we had to suffer an over-heated room.
