“Ottoman Palace- Not a palace!”

We were quite disappointed that we got a DARK room! we were made to stay in a room which had the windows bolted up and there was no sunlight in the room. Also lighting was very inadequate. we were there for only 2 nights and the hotel people said that they are full up and can 'try shifting us the next day only if a room was available'. We were like 'whats the point when we are here only for two nights!'. The location is fantastic no doubt as you are right on Taksim Square so you are close to all the clubs, discos, pubs and shops. The area is super noisy since its full of young crowds of boys and girls.

Room Tip: Make sure they dont give you a 'Dark room'.

The hotel's biggest plus point is it location. It is bang on Taksim Square with ample choice of eating joints around, next to Metro station and 24 * 7 taxi services. The b/fast spread is poor and they should improve. If you are person who likes to spend more time in rooms you may be disappointed, but if you are looking out for going around then this hotel is just good.

Another thing if you have room facing Taksim Square which offers great view, but given Taksim Square is always buzzing you will hear constant noise in your room, particularly on Saturdays or Holidays when Taksim Sq is buzzing through out the night.

The location was great. The reception/ welcoming as well.

The rooms are so so (we were a big group, so I have seen them). While facilities in them are good (nicely decorated, free amenities), the rooms are of 2 types:
1) rooms with windows facing the street with noice and traffic all night long
2) rooms without windows facing the ventilation shaft. Those are quiet, but there is no day light, and it is impossible to ventilate. Our A/C did not work properly, so we couldn't cool the room down, and we felt like we were sleeping in a very dense air every night - not very cool.

The restaurant have a very nice view, but terrible coffee. Don't worry, there is Starbucks 20 meters away from the hotel.

Room Tip: 2 types of rooms: facing the street, but with traffic and noise all night long or with no windows, f...

This hotel has a very convenient location...overlooking Taksim square. You will just have to walk 30 seconds to be in the famous Istiklal street. You can access all Istanbul via the bus and metro stations available in Taksim square. Rooms are clean. The staff is friendly, but speaks little English. The one thing that worried me is that one day when I returned to my room I noticed that someone had drunk my mineral water. All in all, I enjoyed my stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: I advise everybody to choose a top-floor room to avoid the noise coming from Taksim square.

Having read some reviews about the area in which this hotel is located, I was a bit apprehensive about staying at Ottoman Palace. I needn't have worried. The hotel is just a stone's throw away from the Taxim square and the main shopping areas, and there is easy access to the Metro, buses and taxis. While the surrounding buildings were a bit run-down (when you compare with inside), there was nothing unsafe about the area and we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. The staff were brilliant, very friendly, and with a good standard of English. There was nothing they wouldn't do to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The staff was particularly friendly and was always on hand to deliver coffee or a snack directly to our room or to our table in the on-site coffee lounge. The hotel was kept immaculately clean, the rooms were nicely decorated and came with a large bathroom and a balcony. New towels and bedding were supplied every day and the buffet breakfast was delicious. This is by far one of the best value hotels in Istanbul and I would be delighted to stay there again.

Room Tip: on friday and saturday there is a live music (turkish and greek pop)

We came for a vacation my wife and me (Mohamed ABDOURAHMAN) from Djibouti and we are in this hotel since four days and we decided to stay more for ten days, it is a very nice hotel, employees are helpful always smiling and never been disturbed by anyone, the breakfast can be a little bit upgrated but in general it is ok. We are advising to try the experience of spending few days in this palace. The price of the double room acceptable for the hotels in the Taskim square and all nice shops very close. Every important places to visit (blue mosque, grand bazar, bosphore...) are closer with few minutes by metro or tramway (metro twenty meter from the hotel).

Room Tip: Rooms with taksim square view are large and quiet (higher floors), give a nice view on the avenue of...
