OK, so firstly the roadworks are completed, its now pedestrianised outside, so no noise from traffic or roadworks. Secondly you still have to avoid falling into basement shops as you walk around the district, but that's hardly the hotels fault. Thirdly, the staff are NOT rude and scary, in fact they are very friendly and helpful, but the language barrier can make them appear surly or just plain "baffled", you need to persist...

I had a room that was more box like than room, and the small window looked out into a void that contained all of the hotels air conditioning units. Unpleasant. I have read about this room in other reviews, so maybe there are a few like it.

That said the room was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable, and the en-suite all worked as it should. A free to use valuables safe was contained in the wardrobe.

The hotel provided a very good breakfast, but the same restaurant in the evening was not so good, it seemed no-one was using it much, so most of the menu was not available.

The hotel is located a few yards from Taksuray tram station, which is four stops from the Blue Mosque, Tokapi Palace and Hagia Sofia complex, and only 2TL for a ticket, so very well located for touring. Its also only a short walk to Grand Bazaar.

However being in the shopping area, its not the best place for external restaurants, you need to travel back to the tourist areas, or to the bazaar areas for the best meals.

A metro (also 2TL) will get you to Taksuray (Metro) station in 30 minutes from the airport, it is then a short walk to the tram station and then to the hotel., so very cheap to travel in and easy to locate.

The hotel location is ok. When we arrived only the doorman was at reception and we had to wait quite a while until the receptionist arrived to do the check in (we arrived at 9am). Room very small and dirty - hairs over the floor and shower. Bed however comfortable. The walls are very thin and the street quite noisy. On our second morning there was no hot water for over 3 hours. After a long wait luke warm water was available. The receptionist was very unhelpful and unfriendly. Istabul is a great city though - dispite the crappy hotel the trip was worth it!

Room Tip: Take ear plugs!!

Really good place to stay. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great base to stay as you go out and explore what Istanbul has to offer.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for another room if you're not happy with the one you have. Some room...

We stayed here overnight in transit

Perhaps we lucked out we booked a twin room, and received a twin room with a extra room that had a double bed in it..

Had huge windows that didn't look out to much except the street

Only negative was and this was only minor that someone upstairs had very heavy feet and stomped around all night, and the kitchen which must have been nearby- up the stairs outside our hotel room door I believe- was very noisy particularly in the morning

But the room itself was clean, spacious, bathroom was also clean so all in all it was a good stay for us.

Room Tip: Being in a very busy area of Istanbul and the mosques are around keep the windows closed during the...

1. The reception staff was unfriendly, giving wrong advice, not informed and not willing to help with tourist info
2. The room was not cleaned: only the trash was taken and the beds were arranged, but the dust stayed there for the whole trip
3. In the room was very hot and the air conditioned wasn't working properly.
4. One good thing: the silence (well the other guests were noisy, sometimes very noisy, but that's not the hotel's fault)
5. The breakfast was the same every day and very poor; no variety; very few choices.
6. Restaurant stuff looked bored.
7. The view from the restaurant was awesome!
8. We got a room that did't have any view, and when I say "any view" I mean it: the window opened to a hole, I could only see 4 other walls, dark, some cables and some apparatus making a strange noise. If you ever go to this hotel avoid rooms: 1101, 1201, 1301 etc. In my opinion, these rooms had to be transformed into small warehouses.
9. No minibar in the room: only a small empty fridge (which by the way I couldn't open at first because a bed was positioned exactly in front of the fridge door)
