… had a great time here. Let’s start from the beginning:
Although not close to the main attractions (we had to take the ferry from Eminonu to Kadikoy and then a taxi) it was worth the trip.
As you enter some rooms you will hear the theme music playing (western, space, etc.) this just adds to the experience.
Everything is labeled by country and year and very well classified.
There is a nice café/candy shop to unwind.
I highly recommend a visit to the restrooms in the bottom floor (entrance shaped like a submarine), just be careful with the step.
You really have to pay attention and be alert, there are so many toys (Felix the cat, Popeye, smurfs, etc.) you can easily miss some. There are some old (original) newspaper articles explaining in some cases who owned that specific toy. My wife enjoyed the old (some dating to the 1930’s) German dollhouses.
We were only planning a one hour visit, but stayed almost three.
Visited during a week day and (except for some second graders on a school trip) it was practically empty.
I do not recommend this place for handicapped people, as it has several floors and no elevators. But, if you are traveling with kids, like collecting old toys or just think your inner child will enjoy it give this museum a visit; we did not regret it.
