“Hotel makes you feel at home in a big, big city”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. We had our two sons (11 and 13) with us, and they were really welcome too. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom impeccable and fresh. Breakfast had new surprises each morning with something to cater for everybody: just plain bread and jam, olives, eggs, fruit (first strawberries we ate this year!), cherry tomatoes and cucumber, and a choice of Turkish pastry, both hearty and sweet.
As we came back from our daily discovery walks around 5 pm, it was nice to find delicious black tea and apple tea in the lobby. This was also an opportunity to talk to the staff, who were ever so friendly.
Aren Suites are located perfectly: just five minutes from Sultanahmet with the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace, the three absolute highlights of "old" Istanbul. The hotel itself is in a calm area and nice restaurants are within easy reach.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to people travelling to Istanbul for the first time, especially also to couples with children, as they are made to feel very welcome.

We stayed in the hotel for 4 days and didn't want to leave. The hotel is relatively new, remodelled from a private house and it feels very homey. Our room had a street view and never saw the sun, but that didn't spoil the overall impression at all. When I made a booking online this was the only room left, so if you want a sea view room, book in advance! I've also managed to peek into one of the sea view rooms on the same floor and although it was gorgeous, ours had way more space. It felt more like a studio apartment than a room really. Well thought through design, cozy atmosphere. Good quality bed, however the pillows were too thick for my personal liking - I couldn't really adjust. Bathroom spotless. Heating/ cooling system worked perfectly. A nice touch was to be able to have tea & coffee in the room, as well as downstairs at the reception all day. Also they don't charge premium for the phonecalls from the room. I called abroad for like 15 minutes or so, but it cost me about 7 Lira! The staff was friendly. I wouldn't say they bent over backwards to please us, but were courteous and attentive. Breakfast was adequate. The only small downside was that we could hear occasional noise, but it is not uncommon in a house like this. I wouldn't say that the walls were thin as I couldn't hear the neighbours through the walls, but when they let the kids into the corridor, it felt as if they are yelling into my ear. Not as comfortable to wake up to shrieking kids when you suffer from jet lag. Luckily that family moved out next day. The rooftop terrace was a nice bonus. Excellent place to relax. Overall I wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel. Great stay!

Everything about the hotel was perfect right from the very warm welcome we received when we arrived. Our room on the fifth floor was even better than we had expected with great sea views and lots of space. The jacuzzi bath was perfect after a hard day's sightseeing. The hotel is very well situated with all of the sights within walking distance. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Istanbul.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor for wonderful views.

We stayed at the Aren with our 2 boys and it was just the right choice for our family. You can easily walk to the main attractions from the Old Town (no more than 5 minutes) and also is very convenient as you can take the public transportation within a short walk too. The rooms are cozy, well decorated. The bathroom is modern, neat and bright. We had breakfast at the hotel for the 3 days and they had the most delicious breads... Hotel staff is very friendly, and always ready to help you!

Top floor rooms have a nice sea view, the terrace on the top of the building has some amazing views of Blue Mosque. Staff is very pleasant and helpful, bfast is good although just the same every day.

What we liked most about this hotel is the room decor and good taste in color choice. We felt like at home as this hotel has hardwood floors and area carpets. There is nothing luxurious about the hotel, but the choice of room furnishing makes it a very pleasant stay.

The only downside to this is very thin walls and poor wall insulation so you can hear everything next next door and if guests are loud you might be a little inconvenienced.

I would still recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: top floor rooms have great sea view

2 days after returning home I still have vivid memories of this beautiful and vehement city.
Simply you cannot dislike Istanbul and people who live there.
And this hotel is in the heart of Old Empire!
5-10 minutes walk to Hypodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Cystern, 15 min to Topkapi palace...and tram stations.
Small, elegant, warm&clean rooms, terrace with a view, all personnel helpful, kind, polite and witty. Breakfast enriched with turkish details.
One of our best hotel experiences so far.
I do recommend airport shuttle organised by hotel (check website) in order to avoid trafic&taxi fuss when coming and leaving, and even 1 way is for free (if you stay >5 nights).
We will be back, that's for sure.

Room Tip: Bosphorus view at 5th floor!
