The rooms are lovely (we had too different ones as we stayed when we arrived & when we were leaving Turkey.

The staff are really helpful & the lcoation to the all the key sites is fantastic. We also ate at alot of the little restaurants around it and found them great value for money with lovely food.

We could not have picked a hotel w/ better location. Sultamet (Spelling??) is a great area to set a base camp. The hotel is on a low key, quiet street, but just a few steps away from restaurants, bazaar, and of course the three must see sights in Istanbul, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia.
We did hear our next door neighbor through the thin walls as other reviewers have noted previously. But we had no problem w/ noises at night and the wonderful staff makes up for whatever the small hotel lacks otherwise.
I found the breakfast to be perfectly adequate and always fresh. And the staff is always trying to please you and get you whatever you need.
A few suggestions for first time visitors...We found Istanbul street addresses to be pretty useless. Small streets are not marked on the tourist map, and many of the streets don't have names marked. On two occasion when we got too tired to walk back, we got in a taxi and gave him a hotel business card to take us back. Neither of the drivers had no idea where the hotel or the street the hotel was located. One of them had to use a GPS and the other driver stopped and asked people on the street. It's better to orient yourself from Sultamet Square or the Mosque and either walk from there (it's about two blocks) or tell the driver how to get to the hotel.
We ate at the seafood restaurant the hotel HIGHLY recommended which had a pretty nice view on the roof top. I cannot say that our 200TL meal was any better than the 50TL meal we had at the restaurant next door. Every meal we had in Istanbul was fresh, flavorful, and just amazing. There's no need to pay the premium for the view you would get at the hotel roof top.
After a afternoon visit to the Grand Bazaar, we got tired of haggling for a good deal. It would take 15min of haggling to buy a scarf that they originally quoted 50TL to 20TL. Then we found these 3shops right next to each other, right on the Sultamet Square. They post Fixed Price and No Bargaining. But the prices are great, (the same scarf was 10TL) and they have pretty much every souvenier trinkets you would possibly want from Istanbul.

If your looking for a small hotel experience, Aren Suites is an excellent choice. It is a small hotel with a big heart. The hotel is located within walking distance to the Old Town sites such as Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. The tram and many good restaurants are easily found.

The entire hotel staff are all very friendly, attentive, and helpful including house keeping and the wait staff. They made us feel welcome and right at home. Mehmet, the hotel manager was extremely helpful and addressed all of our questions and any touristy issues as they arose. All of the staff could not have been more pleasant.

Rooms are clean and well kept. The roof terrace has a lovely view and is a great place to sit and relax with the cool breezes at the end of a busy day. Breakfast buffet is very good in the traditional Turkish style with a few little extras.

We would definitely come back to this hotel and we recommend it to anyone!!!!

If you you would like to see five star hotel in a small one, choose Aren suit hotel. It is small physically but really big with its rooms and services. The location is fantastic and the breakfast in the small dinning room is really rich . A big thank to Mr.Mehmet and to his staff to the excellent care they provide to their guests.

Room Tip: The rooms in the fourth and fifth floor are really recommended.

We felt at home right from the beginning. The reception very friendly and helpful. Our room on the 5th floor was ample, had a nice view and a comfortable bed. The roof terrace with a refreshing breeze offered an nice view over the sea at sun set. The friendly neigbourhood, the vicinity to the blue mosque, the little and the big Hagia Sophia as well as the tramway were an other asset of the place. In all an excellent choice.

I stayed here because of the many five star reviews on Tripadvisor and I feel let down by all of the great comments. I will say that the location is as advertised and the views from the roof balcony (as well as our room 502) are breathtaking. The rooms are newly furnished, clean and well designed. (It is not a full bath, though, as there is no tub--just a shower). As some other (more recent) guests have pointed out, the sound levels can be disturbing and sound proofing is non-existent. In addition to the guests (and their young children), there was construction going on from 11 am until about 4:00 pm. The hammering sounded like it was right next door, but it wasn't.

The breakfast was so so. It was a cold breakfast with few choices. (Brown bread or white, boiled eggs, two types of soft cheese, a couple of types of cereal, one type of local pastry, plain yogurt that you could add jam to. The coffee was down to the dregs and we had to ask the assistant to make more.)

Although we are staying in high tourist season, the value for money was so-so.

In addition, I take issue with other reviewers who found the staff friendly and helpful. Some of the desk staff are friendly and others are sullen. But none of them were helpful in guiding us to simple establishments. (We were looking for an electronics store because we needed an adaptor for the Turkish plugs and the two that they had on hand were designed for European plugs, not American. And we were also looking for a laundry and they would only refer us to the hotel laundry. Yet there is a laundry and dry cleaners within 200 meters). If you want directions, you will be handed a map and that's the extent of the help. My definition of helpful is much different: pick up the phone to find a store, or google a location on the internet, and then give careful, explicit directions. That is how the desk staff of a hotel gives help to out of town guests.

Sorry, I expect more from a top rated boutique hotel.

Dear Markfour

Thank you for your comments and choosing our hotel on you last stay

It was me who was taking care of you. I remember your question about laundry. The hotel does not have a laundry service itself so we were going to send your laundry to the same place you saw around. Also we are doing best to help our guests, like directing to stores around or checking online as you said. Probably there was a little bit rush so we couldn't answer you totally at that time. Please accept my apologies for this.

We hope to see you in our hotel again with better service

Best regards

Mehmet Sumengen

I stayed at Aren Suites and it was one of my best experiences. The hotel has very comfortable and modern rooms. And the terrace is lovely. I reccomend everybody to have couple cups of turkish tea (cay) there. If you are an author or song writer, you will agree with me: you will enjoy your time writing there while seeing the beauty of Istanbul and feel like the part of local people. And the most important point is the staff. They are very helpful and kind. They answered all my questions with patience and came with many solutions. I will be back to this hotel soon and learn about Istanbul more ;)
