We stayed at the Hanedan Hotel for three nights in September. This is our second visit to Sultanhamet - last year we stayed at the Hotel Peninsula across the street and enjoyed our visit very much. We decided to try the Hanedan just for a change and found this hotel to be a very nice well run hotel and a fair price. We were upgraded to a family room and really enjoyed the extra room. The room was simple but nicely decorated and had a tv (most channels in Turkish but enjoyed all the sports broadcasts) and a hot water kettle which was very handy. The room was very clean and well kept. The rooftop terrace has an awesome view. We found Erhan who was always available in reception to be very helpful and fluent in English and able to answer all our questions. The Hanedan is on a quieter little side street and in a very convenient spot for sight seeing - besides the big sights which are really close, a 5-10min walk to the tram will get you to other parts of the city. It is really easy and inexpensive to take the tram then transfer to the Metro to get to the airport (unless you have to leave really really early) We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The upper rooms have a better view

If you only have a few days to enjoy Istanbul "Old Town" this is a perfect location. You are only a few blocks from all the major sights and restaurants. Erhan was incredibly helpful with all of questions regarding tours etc. As we arrived at midnight, the pick-up at the airport was a nice touch. The breakfast on the rooftop is a wonderful way to begin your day as you enjoy the early morning sunshine. The rooms are not fancy, but are very clean and comfortable.

We stayed in the Family Room with seaview. I was very pleased with the prompt email responses I received from the Hanedan Hotel staff prior to our arrival. Our pick up at the airport was complicated by a late change in arrival time (earlier by nearly 12 hours), but it went smoothly which reassured me that we were in the hands of professional operators. We arrived too early for check in so we left our suitcases and personal effects with the Hanedan Hotel while we went exploring.

The room was fine for our needs. We were quite happy that the master bed was in a separate room. The sea view was distant but lovely. Can't really get enough of the Bosphorous. The bathroom area was a little dated but it served the purpose. There is some noise at night due to closely located restaurants and there are several mosques nearby but we slept soundly because we were so tired. The room is up 3 flights of stairs and the stairs may be difficult for some people.

Breakfast upstairs on the roof of the hotel was enjoyable - fresh air, fresh bread, cheese and yoghurt. It was great viewing all the other hotels in this area with guests all doing what we were doing - eating and taking in the view.

Location of the hotel is good. It is very close to the Blue Mosque and the Agia Sofia. I recommend you get up early (6am) and walk around before the crowds arrive. It is another world and delightfully peaceful at this time. If you head down the hill past the train station you end up at the Bosphorous and on the weekend mornings there are plenty of interesting sights - fishermen, swimmers, divers and people just taking tea (and offering it to you).

Hanedan is a great choice in Sultanahmet. Located in a quiet side street, it's just a five minute walk from all the historical sights - Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi, etc. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms comfortable and the view from the rooftop terrace, where breakfast is served, is spectacular. The transfer service they offer to and from the airport is also really worth the money as the streets in this area are a bit difficult to negotiate and the public transport options a bit uncomfortable, especially with bags.

I stayed at Hanedan for six days while in Istanbul for a conference. I would not go anywhere else, because it has -- Wonderfully attentive and helpful staff, especially Erhan Orkun, who helped with everything from lending me a laptop in the wee hours to calling places where they only spoke Turkish, on his own cell phone!; The perfect location, a short block from the Four Seasons and a two-minute walk to Aya Sofyia and the Blue Mosque; A terrace with jaw-dropping views of the two monuments above and the Marmara Sea; Lovely rooms with sophisticated antique details (like a four-poster bed), no noise and air-conditioning, all at a budget hotel price. I am still shocked that I had the good luck of finding rooms at short notice -- the hotel was always full--and I will definitely return if in Istanbul.

Our family rented a room for 5. Although small (as expected for 5 people) the room was clean and comfortable. The bath was small but everything functioned well.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we found in our around the world trip. One of our family members is vegetarian and had no trouble. The location is outstanding and the view from the roof top eating area is stunning. A small store is around the corner offering wine and cold beer. The hotel arranged airport pickup at 20 Euros (for 5 people- not each), which is better than other shuttle services or taxi rates.
We all loved this hotel.
