I stayed here with my husband and 3 children (8, 6 &5yrs) for 3 days out of our 5 day trip to Istanbul. The room was VERY basic (a sheet and one pillow per bed), but it was clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful although my daughters did get sick of them constantly pinching their cheeks. The breakfast buffet is situated on the roof so has lovely views and a decent spread of food. The real gem about this place is it's location. We really felt we were in the heart of the Sultanahmet area, close to all the major tourist attractions yet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The best and cheapest place to eat was literally next door at Nano's artist cafe. They made the best traditional Turkish food and it felt very warm and friendly and special. The major downside is that the Hotel is directly next to a minuet so every morning at 6:20am the speaker would blast the call for prayer directly into our bedroom window. It was SO loud!

The hotel was chosen because of the short (walking) distance to the main sights in Sultanahmet. Even though there is only a few minutes to the major attractions, the hotel is located in a remarkably quiet area. The hotel offer a nice back garden and an even nicer terrace with an beautiful view where the breakfast is served.
The service is great: The Staff were very helpful and they topped their effort in serving a surprise birthday cake for my wife!! (the noticed her birthday when we checked in).
Our room was small but very clean (service every day with new towels).
In total a great stay in Istanbul.

We stayed here for 10 days in October 2012 and loved it - had a great room on the top floor of the suites building. There is a roof terrace on both buildings with views of the sea and the Blue Mosque. The staff are also extremely helpful.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor of the suites.

Outstanding Sultanahmet location, walking distance to major old city sites. Rooms are small, but clean and nicely appointed. Panoramic Bosphorus views from rooftop breakfast where buffet breakfast is served. Charming outdoor patio. Overall, a great value. Staff are attentive and eager to help. Definitely recommended.

There is not a bad thing to say about Tashkonak, but the best thing you can say is that the location is great. Right next to Sultanahmet (the Blue Mosque) you can easily walk to nice restaurants, the Blue Mosque, and the Arasta Bazaar. Location, location, location! Cobblestone streets, right next to a minaret, which offers great morning ambiance; you will not be disappointed. At night you can hear the local kids playing soccer on the streets, which is sometimes loud, but it makes you feel local. The staff here are helpful and happy to speak with you. The lobby provides you with easy access to maps and postcards (both for purchase), as well as additional travel books to read from their free library. In the afternoon, help yourself to free tea in the garden. The rooms are basic, but if you are coming to Istanbul to stay in your room all the time, then location won't matter for you. All-in-all a good choice, but I think I would look around the same few streets to find a less expensive room.
