Lovely hotel on pedestrian street. Beds very comfortable. Staff very helpful. Nice pool and sauna in basement. Tram runs nearby. walking distance to all major attractions. Amazing varied breakfast. Stayed for four nights mid May. Can recommend the hotel for mature tourists.

Room Tip: higher front floors have views of Bosphorus.

We enjoyed four nights at the Safir, the room was smallish but comfortable (and charming according to my wife), the breakfast was good, the staff were exceptionally helpful, and the location was as good as it gets in Istanbul. Rates are reasonable, and because we stayed four nights, included free transfer in from the airport. Very highly recommended. This was our second trip to Istanbul, if we go again (and we might, we love it) we would stay at the Safir again. What more can you say? One small note - the shower was over the bath and the side of the bath was very high. This would be a problem for anyone with limited mobility or movement.

Lovely hotel. Very warm welcome. ALL staff are professional, helpful and happy.
Room was a bit small but very clean and comfortable. Very good location for walking to major attractions. The tram runs at the end of the street. Quiet location, no traffic can enter street where hotel is situated. Good variety offered for breakfast. Restaurants close by.
We were presented with a box of Turkish Delight on our departure, a nice touch.
Very enjoyable stay and recommend this hotel. Would stay there again.

We stayed in hotel Sapphire for 5 nights in May. Location is excellent, on a short walking distance to all major attractions. Wide choice of reasonably priced restaurants in the neighborhood. Exceptional service that will be difficult to find somewhere else, especially not for this price category. For breakfast enough choice offered. Room was on a smaller side, but we were informed by reception in advance so it was not a surprise. Small tip: ask a room on the back side as a noise from restaurants will last till 1 a.m. however this also gives a special touch to the whole atmosphere. We really loved our stay in hotel Sapphire and will certainly recommend to our friends.

We stayed twice during May at the Sapphire. Agree entirely that staff is lovely and helpful;
waitstaff are self-effacing and deserve tips most people apparently forget.

If you are briefly in Istanbul and want to do the requisite tourist routes, the Sapphire's location
is perfect. Blue Mosque, Topkapi, etc are easy walks. What makes location good also
interferes with the daytime experience: PEOPLE/TOURS/MORE PEOPLE. Cannot see the
sweet cobblestone street or in evening pass one of many restaurants facing the hotel without
being accosted by waiters. It gets tiring.

Virtues of the hotel itself: 1)Amazingly varied, colorful breakfast buffet. Real honeycombs
in bowls of local honeys; super vegetable melanges, too many breads to enumerate--you
leave this meal very happy. 2) If you want more towels (those initially provided were small
and worn), ask for bigger & better. They're brought pronto.

3) Swimming pool indoors--a big, tiled, handsome pool as well as 4) a sauna.
5) This takes persistence and luck. VIEW OF THE BOSPHORUS. The big ships right past
your window. Top two floors--we begged for and got twice Room 603. This is the one
worth a big tip at the desk. Also much larger than those we could see being made up,
some pretty tiny.

Caveats--yes, rooms are lighted minimally. BRING A BULB if you want to read. No proper
lighting for applying makeup.
Least fun--tub/shower setup. The tubs have unusually high sides--getting in and out of them
felt dicey for me--a short woman--and for husband, who's over 6 feet.

Rates for Ist are reasonable. Certainly try it.

Room Tip: ROOMS 603 and 503 --wonderful sights of Bosphorus, sounds of prayer 5 times daily from nearby mosqu...

I stayed at Hotel Safire for three nights in May. The staff were so lovely and helpful, not just those on the front desk but the busboys, the restaurant, the housekeepers, everybody. The room was perfect. Very comfortable. Close to all the major attractions and shopping areas. Lots of reasonable priced restaurants nearby. Can see it all by walking. You also get a present when leaving which is the first time I have ever received anything by a hotel I have stayed at. Highly Recommended.

Excellent location walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace Haigh Sofia both Bazaars and the Basilica cistern...
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The rooms were clean but a bit dark. I would have liked a full length mirror as the only mirror in the room was at the back of the fridge and difficult to get close enough to put makeup on ...while husband was in the shower.
Would definitely recommend and would stay again if we return to Istanbul
