“very quiet central hotel, best connection price-quality”
Reviewed March 4, 2010

The hotel has the best imaginable position, because being very central is also very quiet (rare opportunity). Our room was not big, but with a very good and very clean bed. The breakfast is very rich and with a big choice. The covered terrace, eather for breakfast and for restaurant, has a wonderful vew. The only thing we didn't like was the moquette.
Spending there more than a week, we enjoyed the special offers (1 night free, 1 meal free ecc.). Everyone was helpful.

it is my third trip to istanbul, I know that good hotels there are quite expensive and most of them are in Taksim square ....... BUT : Mina Hotel !!
I was really surprised by the quality of this hotel, for 35 Eur / night, you have :
- a single room, very well furnished, very clean, very good bathroom
- an hotel in an excellent location, near to tram station, restaurants, bazaar ....
- a great view in the last floor where the restaurant is : you take your breakfast (good with good varieties of food) while you envoy the Marmara Sea and the Blue Mosque just in front of you.

To sum up : for all my next trips, I can never go to any other hotel !

Staff seemed a little confused when we arrived , we had booked through BA and we began to wonder if we had a reservation at all. We were shown to our room which was small, very dark, very hot and had a small obscured window that opened out onto a stair well. The bathroom was small and the grouting was covered in black mould. The water went off mid afternoon and when it came back on it was very brackish and took a while to clear. e asked if we could be moved to another room as the heat was unbearable. The manager told us he had nothing available. The final straw was went the electricity went off due to water coming through the floor above and the second floor was without power. A second request to change rooms still gave the same reply and it was only when we called another hotel to check for vacancies that the manager found us another room as he wanted us to say good things on Trip Advisor"! The second room on the 5th floor although a twin as opposed to a double had a window that looked out over the roof tops towards the sea and we had fresh air coming in. Bathroom was also larger and no mold although the shower over the bath could be difficult for people with mobility problems as the step in and out of the bath was deep.
Breakfast was typical continental, cheese, olives etc. orange juice was powdered and coffee from a machine.
Having said all of that the linen and towels were changed every day and reception staff helpful. The hotel is very central to all the major sights so it was easy to get around. Mina is a good tourist class hotel and value for money, we paid far less that the rack rate advertised (135 euro for a double). If you want somewhere central then this is a good hotel. Just beware of the internal facing rooms and the second floor!

Lovely hotel in the heart of Sultanahmet with spectacular views from the roof terrace.
Excellent value for money with friendly and accommoating staff.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, all thats required when visiting a city.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and i would definately stay at the Mina hotel again.

Very nice hotel with small but comfortable rooms, which are kept spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful reception staff who can arrange transfers and give info on places of interest. Hotel is excellently located for sightseeing and within five minutes walking distance of Blue Mosque/Aghia Sofia/Bazaar/ restaurants, etc. The tram stop is also only a few minutes away and is a great way to get around (very cheap too!). Would definitely stay at this hotel again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Found this hotel online and pictures looked good. Sometimes you can't tell much from photos however, this hotel was a gem. The hotel was very clean. Beds were comfy and bathroom was spotless. Staff treated us very well and were generally helpful with anything we asked about. Breakfast buffet was tasty and varied including local and western style food. Views from hotel were amazing - overlooked the Bosphorus and the Blue Mosque. Cost of room was very good although it was not considered high season at time we travelled. Location was excellent. Was able to walk to many historical sites. I'll definately stay here again on my next visit to Istanbul.
