“Good hotel in a good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

No complaints. Rooms were nice and they had awesome pillows. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were modern with a nice bathroom. The hotel is on a quiet street so you can get a good nights sleep. Just a few minutes walk to anything in the old city. Wifi worked but was sometimes slow. Price was a little high but I'd stay here again.

Great location but hotel is tired. Its close to all of the main attractions and restaurants in the old town. Walking distance to all of them and the tram to the new city. It would help if the staff were friendly or at least made an effort to be. Extensive breakfast offering.

Owing to a mix-up by our travel agent, the hotel at which we thought we had a booking for two nights (the Recital) couldn't accommodate us; however, the chap on reception at the Recital was kindness itself and very quickly got us transferred to the Mina, which was about 100m away.

Perhaps it's something about Turkish hotels, but the reception staff at the Mina couldn't have been kinder or more courteous and helpful. The rooms are fairly standard tourist hotel rooms (although the bathroom was lovely and boasted a huge walk-in shower), but the hotel has a magnificent roof-top bar and restaurant, where drinks and meals are extremely reasonably priced for a hotel and which boasted stunning views of the sea.

Breakfast, included in the price of the room, was taken in the 6th floor breakfast room and was a very impressive buffet (much more so, we noted, than at our original hotel, the Recital).

The hotel is well located - and there's a very decent restaurant across the road at which we had a two course meal costing about six pounds each - for all the major sights in Sultanahmet. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: You pay a bit more, but the 'Marmaris' rooms have sea views.

Location! All of the biggest attractions in Sultanahmet are steps away from this hotel. Upon arrival, the attentive front desk person promptly gave us a map and pointed out things of interest nearby. Our room was clean and perfect for our stay. The one drawback (for some) is that there was a minaret right outside our window. Our window opened with a view of the sea. We did go to the on-site restaurant for dinner. The menu did not include anything inventive or special, but the food was reasonably priced, fresh and delivered with good service. The breakfast in the morning was one of the better ones during our 2 week stay in Turkey (and visits to 6 other hotels). Also, we did arrange hotel transport through the hotel and had no problems whatsoever. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to go to Istanbul.

Stayed here two times because of its proximity to the sites in Sultanamet. Rooms were basic, but clean. Air conditioning does not work in all rooms - opening the window is not an option because of the nearby street noise and calls to prayer in the early morning. Breakfast was good, but get there early because they do not refill all of the entrees. You can order an omelet for a reasonable price. Very limited fruit selection at breakfast (only apples) and orange juice was made from a drink mix. The person working at the front desk was not familiar with hours of the historic attractions - and gave incorrect information - so don't rely upon them.
Internet connectivity depends upon the location of room relative to their routers (perhaps the central staircase) - so ask for a room that is closer to one of their routers if Internet access is important.

If you haven't been to a European hotel, the rooms are smaller than US hotels and it can get cramped with two people in a double room. Bathrooms were clean and basic. The safe in the room was not maintained and did not work.

If you take the metro to get here, get off at either the Çemberlitaş or Sultanamet stops - it's 5 to 10 minute walk to the hotel. It takes approximately one hour to travel to or from the airport and costs a total of about 6 TL per person. The metro can get crowded, so plant yourself near the door so that you have a chance of getting off.

Paid approximately 95 Euro for a one night stay in a double room for two people in June, 2013. It is possible to negotiate a price of 5 Euro less.

Room Tip: If internet access and A/C are important, ask for a room that has these - if there's a choice.

This week we have been to Istanbul in Hotel Mina. Very kind people, good services, breakfast is very well and the room was very clean. From our room we had a good look over the Sea of Marmara. We can surely recomment this hotel in the middel of the old town.

Room Tip: You can walk to all the important sightseeings in less than 12 minutes.

Excellent location, in a quiet street but within walking distance from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque and very close to the tramline. Good breakfast, with some traditional dishes. Rooms are indeed smaller, but clean and have everything you need, as most of the time you will be outside anyway.
