Let me start by stating that the Nippon Hotel is definitely NOT a four star hotel. The small size of the superior room is nothing compared to the other imperfections of the hotel. First of all, the house-keeping was a disaster. There was supposed to be two bottles of complimentary water and there were TWO occasions where they failed to replace them or even bothered to replace the dirty cups! Also there was supposed to be free daily newspaper, which we opted to have under our preferences upon check-in and the whole time we were there, we did not even get ONE!

Secondly, the worst thing about this hotel has to be the lack of sound isolation and PAPER-THIN walls. Let me add that the doorbell function is the biggest fiasco ever as it is so loud that you can hear it through your own door when others use it. On one occasion late at night, the neighbors rang the doorbell and knocked on the door of an adjacent room MORE THAN 100 TIMES (seriously)!!! Apparently, they do not know how to use the phone to call the other room. After enduring as much as possible, I jumped out of bed to confront them and the minute I opened the door, the woman ran back into her room and her man finally got some brains to go down the reception to get a hotel card to open the door!!! Also, their kids sometimes played their remote control cars outside the hotel rooms LATE at night, which made it impossible to sleep due to the lack of sound isolation!!!

That's not the end of it. On TWO occasions LATE at night (again!!!), the woman and her man started arguing in Arabic at the top of their voices!!! Doors were slammed and then the man would return to the room and they would start arguing again!!! I literally had to shout from my room to make them stop!!!

The only good thing about the hotel is the location but trust me, there are TONS of other hotels in the same vicinity and it would be in your interest to check them out before committing to the Nippon Hotel.

We spent three nights here and were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a suite when we checked in with our two kids. The suite provided us with plenty of room to move around and sleep comfortably even with a toddler bed and baby cot included. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is located in a pleasant street in Taksim with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

I was looking for an affordable and comfortable hotel in the Taksim area of the city so that I wouldnt have far to walk home after enjoying the nightlife that the city has to offer. I had heard that Taksim could be very noisy and after reading a good number of reviews settled on this hotel. The photos on and online reviews do not do the hotel justice. It is very nice, well maintained and exteremely comfortable. The staff are very friendly and will to help out with any queries you may have. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from Taksim square and just far enough from the main roads so that you dont have traffic noise all night. I opted for a corner deluxe room and was not dissapointed. Others in my group had a double room which although comfortable, I feel may have had one too many unnessesary tables making the room seem smaller that it actually is.

Room Tip: Go for a corner room - more space.

My wife and I booked this place based on the outdoor pool that was advertised, since it was really hot in Istanbul. When we arrived we found out they had no pool, just a gym. The clerk mentioned that they do not advertise anywhere that they have a pool, then when I started to get my iPhone out to show him he brought the manager out, who started to tell me the same thing. When I showed him, he said maybe the booking sites did this on there own then told us we could use the pool at the hotel across the street since they are partner hotels. Well that was nice of him to try to make us happy but that does not change the fact that someone working for this hotel is lying about having a pool. Afterall, we didnt book this place to go to a pool at a different hotel! Anyhow, this hotel seemed clean, nice, and in a good location, but we really felt like we should have paid this price for what we wanted.

A hotel with a great location just a stones throw from Taksim Square. The rooms are ok but not super clean neither super quite. To the contrary, we were hearing all night the flushes of every toilet room above ours. The windows allow very little fresh air to come into the room and you can feel that the moment you walk in. We asked to have a couple of shirts ironed and when we came back we found a rusty ironing board in our room and an old iron which was constantly leaking and left stains on the shirts. Its breakfast was not great either. Not everything looked fresh. The worst point though was the bath robe which was still smelling cheap female perfume probably left uncleaned from the previous visitors. Disgusting. Doesn't need much effort to become a much more pleasant hotel.

We booked a room at Nippon hotel at the last minute and did not really know anything about the hotel except that the location was just a few minutes walk from Taksim restaurants. We stayed one night and were very happy with the room. It was tiny but enough for the 2 of us and quite clean. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet despite of a vey noisy area and the staff very welcoming.
You'll have a much better price if you book through the Internet than at the desk. So we booked from an Internet coffee in the Taksim area.

We stayed in Nippon hotel for 5 nights. Hotels location is Ideal for exploring Istanbul, very close to Taksim Sq. and the metro station entry is less than 100 meters away from the hotel.
We were given a room in the first floor upon arrival and had a terrible experience for the first 2 days. The noise from the disco next door went on till 3 AM first night and till 6 AM on the 2nd night of our stay so we could not sleep at all. After complaining to hotel reception they moved us to 4th floor which had no noise but was a smoking floor.
The Hotels front desk staff were very friendly and helped us a lot with finding places and arranging tours.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms in the first floor
